Numerous photographs and brief text follow the daily activities of a twelve-year-old Ethiopian boy during Christmas vacation in his remote mountain village.
Victor Englebert was born in Brussels, Belgium, in 1933. After growing up he went on to live in Congo, Canada, Colombia, and the United States. As a child he dreamed of explorations. As an adult he realized his dream documenting, in words and photographs, the cultures of over 30 indigenous peoples in three continents. His stories have been published by National Geographic (nine times), Smithsonian, International Wildlife, The World and I, Americas, Archaeology, and many other magazines. He is the author of 17 photo books, nine of which he wrote. They include Wind, Sand and Silence: Travels with Africa's last Nomads, winner of the Chicago Geographical Society's 1992 Publication Award, Aborigines of the Rain Forest: the Yanomami, five children's books, and nine self-published titles on Colombia.
