This program does exactly what I need it to do. I can tag thousands of images instantly.
I can preview raw files on the cards themselves and delete the clunkers.
There isn't a program out there that is faster at displaying image files. How do they do it?
The program takes a jpeg of the raw file on your memory card or hard drive and creates a preview.
It takes no more than 20 seconds for it to display all raw files on an 8gb card.
Then I can tag, the images and ingest them into a folder of my choosing.
Then I go off and do other things while my computer copies them over to a pre-selected folder.

This program does a few simple tasks, but does them extremely well.

Photo Mechanic is saving me tons of time with an archiving project. I can't imagine successfully completing the project without it. I'm photographing historical ledgers in RAW format. Photo Mechanic allows easy cropping and rotating of images, loading the various data fields into the images, creating spreadsheets of the data, and then saving into TIF and then JPG formats. As I'm digitizing ledgers odd pages first and then even pages, Photo Mechanic makes it easy to put them in proper order.

I can't say enough about the help the Camera Bits staff have given. I'm using Photo Mechanic in a non-standard way and they have suggested ways to make the process as easy as possible. If you want software to organize your images and add names and other identifying information, Photo Mechanic will do it quickly.
