This review is from: In Camera and Other Stories (Paperback)
Intriguing short stories in the vein of Roald Dahl and Shirley Jackson. Perceptive, thoughtful, darkly wry, interesting but subtle twists. Only five stories, and I liked all of them: "In Camera," "Beelzebub," "Blind Bill," Charlie Ferber" and "Henry Marlborough." The endings aren't wildly satisfying but here the underplaying seems apt. I'm surprised I'd never heard of the author before -- I was reading a Mark Twain short story collection at the same time, and contrary to all expectations I liked Westall's much more.
