Book Description

January 20, 2008 Earthwise Guides
800km. Blisters, snoring, heatstroke and hills. Europe s most popular pilgrimage just got easier. The first detailed map of the Camino de Santiago is now available. The Camino de Santiago (the Way of St James) is a glorious walk across the north of Spain, following an ancient pilgrimage route west to the magnificent cathedral at Santiago de Compostela. 40 full-colour trail maps at 1:100,00 scale and 6 city maps guide pilgrims across this ever-popular route, walked by more than 100,000 pilgrims each year. This mapbook strips the Camino de Santiago down to its bare essentials. Each map includes picture icons for accommodation, cafes, restaurants, shops, tourist information, banks and cashpoints. 7 detailed accommodation pages list every albergue (pilgrim hostel) along the way, along with hotels and other places to stay for every budget. Camino de Santiago Map is lightweight, compact, and slides into pockets or backpacks. In book format with an easy-to-use covered spiral-bound spine, the mapbook lies flat and stays open even during the strongest gales: no wrestling or origami skills required.

this super light weight book showing the path to Santiago is an excellent alternative to taking a guide book with you if you are planning to walk the Camino Frances. It lists the albergues and hotels in all the villages along the way, along with other services offered - cash points, supermarkets, churches, etc. Spiral bound, well layed out, good town maps of the 5 biggest towns along the way. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars El Camino, The Adventure of a Lifetime !, May 11, 2009

This review is from: Camino de Santiago Map (Earthwise Guides) (Spiral-bound)
This was my BIBLE when my friend and I decided to do the Camino on a whim!It helped us cross over 500 miles on foot via The Camino Francais. It took us over the French Pyrenees, through the maseta and finally arriving in Santiago de Compostela. Yes, we finished all 813 kilo (500 miles). If I did another route of the Camino, I would defintely NOT go without this fantastic aid. It maps out the kilometers/ miles perfectly. And listed "albergues" (catholic hostels) with bed #'s. Though you must obtain a Pilgrim's passport at your starting city to be able to stay in these places, research this before starting off. This was an adventure of a life time and I would recommend it to any and all. Americans made up only 2% of all pilgrims, which made it great for someone who loves languages. Most common Europeans were Germans.

Good Luck to All!
