Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Camoniana California is a collection of scholarly research papers on Cames' epic poem, The Lusiads, his lyrics and theater. Several articles also address cultural topics pertaining to the sixteenth century author, his relationship to his time and to the era of the Portuguese discoveries. Cames, the great master of Portuguese poetry, is brought to the twentieth century through this re-examination of his classical works and the exploration of comparative approaches to his canonical work.

About the Author

Maria de Lourdes Belchior Pontes: Professor of Portuguese, Brazilian, and Spanish Literature as well as History of Portuguese Culture, in several universities of Lisbon, Portugal, France (Paris III) and the University of California, Santa Barbara. A specialist in peninsular baroque literature.
