Rod Rocks,

Certainly not his best album, but even more so, far from the worst. Rod has some great tracks on this disc. "Infatuation" is a great, upbeat rocker, his version of "All Right Now" is faster than the original and in my opinion far better, "Some Guys Have All The Luck" is a chart topper, "Can We Still Be Friends" has great vocals and a more electronic feel, "Bad For You" is a good driving song if nothing else, "Heart Is On The Line" is a lot like "Some Guys Have All The Luck" so its good, "Camouflage" is probably the worst song on the disc and you'll definately skip it as soon as you hear them start spelling (C-A-M-O...), and finally "Trouble" is a calming song to close out the album with good vocals by Rod. Seem a little critical? Well maybe so, but every Rod fan should have a copy of this one because if nothing else it's fun to listen to and takes everyone back to the days of Rockin' Rod.

For some odd reason, I missed purchasing this album upon its initial release in '84. I am more of an occasional Stewart fan and when one of his songs grabs my attention, it really grabs my attention.
Such was the case with "Infatuation." Yes, it was overproduced and Stewart's voice was drowned out in segments by some of the instrumentation. But, man, it makes me get up and move!!! The same thing happens when I hear "Some Guys Have All the Luck," "Bad for You," and the title cut. The rest of the disc is pure 80's and that, for me, is worth the purchase. While Rod is garnering commercial success with his trio of standards (of which I have the first one), I still think Stewart the Rocker is, by far, his best incarnation. And "Camouflage" satisfies my musical appetite most grandly.

Not just an infatuation...,

As far as this album is concerned, critics sound the same:'unessential item in his catalogue',etc.,etc.Let's face it:this is a great album and I say that without any apologies-there are some fantastic grooves, excellent arrangements, while Jeff Beck's presence is by no means the only redeeming element here.Rod sings with the best of them and his attitude is as always 100%;also,there are moments here worthy of the best Prince albums,so let's forget about the eighties cliche:music this good needs no camouflage!
