Poor mount, stay away!,

I recently purchased this light so that I could grill in the dark winter evenings, blindly based on the recommendation of America's Test Kitchen. It is probably the worst gadget I've ever used, and have no idea why they chose it.
I suppose it was probably due to the extra long adjustable neck, or bright light, but the mounting hardware is all but useless. The C-clamp has two flat surfaces with no undercuts, making it worthless for clamping to any surface that isn't uniformly thick, such as the stainless-steel shelves on my grill that have a 1/4" bend edge for rigidity. I finally did find a second-rate place to mount it, but then found other major flaws. The light is meant to be removable from the C-clamp, but the connection is very difficult. And worst of all, there are mating serrated washers that are supposed to allow the light to pivot in relation to the base, but the plastic material cannot support the weight of the head, and was stripped out the first time I used it. So now the light won't stay in any upright position. I hope to rig up an alternate method when it gets warmer and salvage my overpriced investment. LED lights have become more common lately, I'm sure there are better products out there than this one.

Bought two of these one for myself and one for my uncle Leo. If you cook at night or when it gets dark, this is a great product. Plenty of light to see what and how things are cooking. Love It

Good Lamp, Poor Mount,

The stove clamp is made from very soft plastic, and there is a toothed swivel wheel that you can move around and clamp to get the correct angle for the lamp. However the plastic is so soft that the teeth quickly srip, and then you can't aim the lamp. I also cannot really see how the lamp mounts to the side shelves of the stove as shown in the pictures, I tried and the mount will not clamp to the edge. The way the mount is built it looks like will only work on round rod handles. The led light looks good, but there is a real problem with the stove mount. Back it goes.
