We bought this stove to replace our old well-used Camp Chef that finally, after about 15 years of hard use rusted out. We used the new one for about two weeks when the regulator began malfunctioning. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great "Cajun" cooker!, November 8, 2008
This review is from: Camp Chef SH-140L High Pressure Single Burner Cooker with Detachable legs and Clover Leaf Surface, Black (Lawn & Patio)
I've had my sh-140L for about 8 years and it has really done the best job for me. I am a beer brewer and this unit is solid, easy to use and easy to clean. The height is just right for my 40 QT pot. It easily generates enough heat to bring 5 gallons to a hard, rolling boil and has more to go.

The stand and top are very sturdy and obviously well constructed. The removable legs makes it easier to store (although I leave mine assembled most of the time). The high pressure delivery does sound a bit like a jet engine, but that's not any kind of problem.

I highly recommend this cooker for beer brewing, cajun boil or deep frying a turkey. I cannot imagine that you would not be as pleased as I am with this cooker.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great cooker, esp. with leg extensions, April 6, 2011

I am using this to brew beer, and the leg extensions put it at a much more usable height. The burner does not have much finesse for setting the flame, but it has worked well for me. You need watch when you are lighting, as I have have had a flame ignite where the hose ends at the air intake. Seems to be very sturdy and ready for the long haul.

We bought this stove to replace our old well-used Camp Chef that finally, after about 15 years of hard use rusted out. We used the new one for about two weeks when the regulator began malfunctioning. We finally had to replace it last week, after less than a month. The safety device in the unit itself causes the gas pressure to throttle back to the point where it is impossible to maintain a cooking flame and the least breeze will shut down the flame as well. We did all our canning and barbecuing on the old Camp Chef, never had any of these problems. Can't make hot dogs on this one, much less pressure can.

4.0 out of 5 stars great cooker, March 17, 2010

got this to brew with and a 60 quart pot. the burner is very good and it pumps out the heat. at 60,000 BTUs it matches the 10+ gallon brew perfectly. you can go smaller for a 5 gallon batch, but try to match the pot size to the BTUs so that your time to full boil is quick. i do get a little flash back when i am turning this off. slower shut off seems to reduce that. seems like i get 4 full 5 gallon beer batches out of a propane tank with this on high for most of the time. heat plus boil time is taking about 1.5 hours. it's stable. you do have to reach in a ways to light it with a lighter (the long kind).

I started using this burner to brew beer instead of in the kitchen. The Camp Chef Burner Cooker is easy to setup and simple to use. This product holds a stainless steel pot along with 7+ gallons of liquid with ease. It is able to quickly heat up all of the liquid and keep it at a rolling or even raging boil as long as necessary. I purchased the ignition lighter separately which makes starting it a breeze. The only issue I have seen with it is that after one use the black coating on the outside anywhere close the burners starting peeling off in large sections. This isn't a big deal for me since mine is stored indoors, and isn't likely to result in any rust. However, I could see this being a major concern for those who use and store this outdoors or while camping. Overall this cooker is great, and now that I have it I would never go back to the stove top.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Product, June 7, 2011

This review is from: Camp Chef SH-140L High Pressure Single Burner Cooker with Detachable legs and Clover Leaf Surface, Black (Lawn & Patio)
The burner came packaged nicely. The only problem was the actual burner is held on by 2 small tack welds which either broke in transit or were not properly tack welded from factory. So now I need to take it to a buddy's house to get it welded. Not worth the hassle and waste of money reshipping it for a new one. It looks great and hopefully my experience is just a random one. I would probably recommend it to a friend but only because I know that if something happened to it we can weld it or whatever needs to be done. If someone isnt very handy or have the correct tools I would probably recommend shopping around and doing a thorough review of products available before buying this one. Like I said though I probably got the unlucky one out of a thousand.

We purchased the extension legs to bring this burner up to our grill level. Great for quickly boiling water for corn or canning and the occasional brewing session. Very nice construction and easy to operate.

This is the same cooker sold on many brewing supply websites. It is very sturdy, and I feel very confident having 12 gallons of boiling water on top of it. Absolutely get the ignitor; the attachment holes are already on the cooker.
