The Camp Chef SPG-90B has been a perfect choice for a camp stove and the BBQ box makes a good combination on top of this 3-burner stove. It is much sturdier than it looks in photos. It sets up in 2 minutes, and really IS portable despite having 3 burners. We wanted to look at one in person, but couldn't find a retailer anywhere in the area so we took a chance on buying this on the internet. Delivery was FAST! However, the photo on the internet shows a rack underneath and the description clearly says that it comes with a rack underneath. FYI - It doesn't. You have to buy one separately and it's $20-$30 from other sources. We do not regret this purchase though.

Keep Grilling!

After years of bad steaks while RV-ing on numerous portable grills, I tried this unit. It is very hot! burners will be much hotter than your indoor range, unless you have a Viking professional unit. The grill box blows the doors off my considerably more expensive back yard grill. Aside from the great rare steaks from this very hot grill, I've smoked fish, pork tenderloins & racks of lamb in the grill box. I did a 5# pork loin on easter with Apple wood chips (one burner on low with chips under the grill plate. Pork loin on opposite side with burner off & a foil pan with water under it.) I also purchased the griddle. It is huge - restaurant quality short order breakfasts in the campground.

negatives - my thermometer also broke. We camp at the ocean, so i am getting some rust. Unit will need occasional touching up. The performance at this price point far outweighs these minor negatives. Back yard grills which can match this unit for performance & output cost at least 3 times as much.

I have had the Camp Chef SPG-90B 3 burner grill for almost 3 years now, and it is still going strong. Every major fair weather holiday my extended family descends on the old family homestead for a few days of fun and family on the banks of the Hiawasee river. We usually top 50 people, and cooking for that crowd can be a chore. With the CampChef its a breeze.

We cook everything on this thing. In the mornings, its eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes for 50 people on the griddle. The full size griddle is a must have.

In the evenings we vary the menu from night to night, so the CampChef gets a workout. We grill, fry, boil, and even bake with this thing. My mother found out last year that the grill makes for a fairly passable camp oven, and her home made blackberry and raspberry cobblers were the delicious proof.

We have also used this thing as canning and "putting up" green beans, corn, peas, and okra. It keeps 2 pressure canners and a 16 quart stock pot at a boil with no problems.

The bottom line is: Buy this and the griddle and don't look back. If I can feed 50 people twice a day with this thing, just think what it could do for a tailgate party.

I had been looking for a gas grill to use during the long California warm weather cooking season. I had been using charcoal grills but the wait time for the charcoals to be ready to start cooking was a drawback to routinely grilling outside. I wanted something that was ready to cook on based on my schedule. However, I was less than enthusiastic about purchasing a unit that could only do grilling. After researching on the Internet I found this device. It not only was a very sturdy, and well made grilling mechanism, it had a primary function, as a high intensity gas cook-top,to allow me to routinely cook,i.e. boil, fry, saute, stir fry, etc, outside during the long very warm summers here in Northern California. I found this portable cook-top and grill to be well designed and made. It was very easy to assemble, with clearly written instructions. It is very substantive and sturdy, with a reasonable trade-off between weight and portability. That is to say it is not a very light weight system to carry all at once, the three burner cook-top, and the grilling attachment. Once set up, it fires up quickly. Adjustment is straightforward with large control knobs and flame adjustment ports for each of the three burner. You can use the attachable legs to bring the cooking surface to a mid level height, or take them off and place the unit on a metal table for a higher cooking surface. All in all it fits the bill for my intended uses, a very good product.

I have been using this grill as my tailgating grill for 2 seasons.

I love it because:
1. The 3 large burners NEVER blow out during a big wind or rain storm.
2. The cooking surface is HUGE!!! i cook 25 steaks every year during the Dolphins vs. Patriots game.
3. Fantastic customer service for any issues (see below).
4. Great storage bags and breaks down very nicely.

The main reason why i don't like it is:
1. The cooking grates are made of cast iron and if you live in a place like Florida with high humidity, they will definatly rust. (the Customer Service Department is very helpful in teaching how to limit the rust or getting replacments).
2. The legs come off instead of folding. This almost was a real pain in the butt because i lost the nut that holds the legs on.

After 2 years, i am getting ready to buy a new one. There is no other grill on the market that can compare but i really wish that they would offer a new grilling surface.

I purchased this directly from Amazon. It came in a few days, and the package was slightly damaged. The instructions inside stated not to call the seller, but to call Camp Chef if there were any issues with the product - which I did.

All went well on the phone with Camp Chef customer service. My call was answered promptly (they open at 7am MST). I explained the product that I purchased, and that the package came in a slightly beat up manner. I explained that the clamp on the BBQ box was broken (it was bent off the box - the issue was not with the latch, but with the lower piece to which the latch clamps onto), and that the shelf was missing a screw and nut (one side was attached, the other was not). I noted, that I assumed the latch would come with the screws. I believe the latch was damaged in shipping, but the pieces that attached the shelf to the grill itself were missing all along. I cannot see any evidence that they once existed, and if they were broken off in shipping there certainly would be damage to the shelf and probably to the grill.

I then innocently told her that I purchased it on Amazon. That statement was a mistake, because things immediately took a turn for the worse. Her tone changed as she explained that Camp Chef products that are purchased on ebay or amazon are not warrantied because "we don't know who the seller is." I explained that I purchased this directly through Amazon; that Amazon itself was the seller. She was obviously not happy, but reluctantly agreed to send me a nut, a screw, and a latch (probably no more than three dollars of parts) but again warned that my purchase is not covered in the future by Camp Chef.

I thanked her, and feel that there is a very reasonable chance these three things will show up in the mail in a few days. If not, it is no big deal. I feel I got a great price on a great piece of equipment and I can live without the latch if necessary. The screw and nut are no big deal, they will be easy to find at a hardware store....or perhaps on Amazon or Ebay :) I later looked on the Camp Chef website, and Amazon is listed as an online dealer! The grill comes with a one year warranty, so I registered it and feel I am certainly eligible for a warranty.

My reason for giving this two stars is not about the product. It is sturdy, and I believe the Big Gas 3 Sports Grill is a great value given that it comes with a BBQ box that lists for a hundred bucks on it's own. I'd give the product a solid four out of five, maybe more, but the fact the shelve was not attached at the factory, and the minor shipping damage dropped it to a three or four. Camp Chef "Customer Service" is a nightmare - that scares me and I would probably avoid their products in the future for that alone. I want to deal with companies that "get it." I don't believe Camp Chef does; at least based upon this experience.

I originally bought this Camp Chef for my home brewing set up. It allows me to move entire brewing process outdoors. Additionally, I now have an outdoor cook station to compliment my smoker/grill.

I was initially looking for an upgrade to the regular Coleman stove and saw this and went: WOW! I just received it and realized that I will be using this product at home this summer (and not on my 5 day car camping trip). The reason is because of how HEAVY this item is -- being female, 5 foot 10, used to lifting saddles, gear, etc: this item is too much for me to go with on solo trips, sadly. Also the size of this product in the carrying case is an issue: it would take up too much space in my trunk (no room for cooler, small propane tank, cooking gear) so that leaves the back seat. Spend the money and get the rolling carrying case! Camp Chef RCB60 Deluxe roller carry bag The grill inside the case measures: 20" wide x 43" long x 11.5" deep. The carrying case is made out of super strong denier-grade luggage material with a quality zipper that zips from each side. There is also a small side opening which unzips so you can reach inside to the stove's center metal handle and carry it. This product would be great if you have a truck, camper, horsetrailer (to move the grill) and another person or man to carry and set up. The Grill box is awesome: I love cast iron you just need to keep it clean and seasoned and this, too, is HEAVY. The side table is really strong, I was surprised! There are no Wind Screens on this product! Which means you could put some really HUGE POTS without any limits onto this baby! (Since I am going to be camping in a windy area I had to buy a different camp chef product: Camp Chef Sport Utility DJ-60LW Table Top Sport Stove because this does have a windscreen and is smaller.) Finally, in an emergency this stove would be great because you could boil buckets of water (to drink if bucket is stainless steel) or to bathe (with galvanized bucket). If the power goes out in my area I am going to be just fine!

I researched many tailgating BBQs and found only positive reviews regarding this grill. This puts out some major heat. THe grill is a perfect size and the extra burner is great for heating chili or hot water.

I also use this for catering events as well as pop warner football game consession. Portable, easy to set up.
