Book Description

September 10, 2000 Serena Wilcox Mysteries (Book 3)
"Serena sends her sleuthing partner Karyn to camp, tracks down a stalker on the Internet, and looks for clues in a place that will make claustrophobics cringe."

The Serena Wilcox Mysteries are lighthearted and suspenseful Private Eye books featuring the pixie "pizza loving" (and slightly lazy)detective who never carries a gun. Each book features a "plot within a plot" style, a "murderless" crime, and an original storyline. These books do not have to be read in order, and each title is quite different.

CAMP CONVICTION is the third book in the Serena Wilcox Mysteries, and can be read without having read the first two books in the series. Camp Conviction has received the highest praise of the three Serena Wilcox novels. Readers will be happy to find more of Serena in this book, more humor, and tighter writing.

Camp Conviction is written in Natalie's "plot-within-a-plot" style, in which more than one storyline is running at the same time. However, as with her earlier books, Natalie's writing style is light enough that readers will have no problem keeping up with the multiple plots.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Ditsy, self-indulgent private detective Serena Wilcox delegates to partner Karyn the task of investigating complaints about an ultraconservative group promoting "vacations" at a former military compound. Karyn, along with fianc? Dan and his young nephew, enroll in the camp, antagonize everyone by refusing to declare the government evil, endure intentionally scary hay- and raft-rides, then retreat. Serena, meanwhile, discovers a connection between the compound owners and troubles with the sale of an e-mail-addicted client's acreage nearby. Suitable for series (Virtual Memories) fans who can overlook overblown situations, extraneous description, and simplistic characterization.

More About the Author

Natalie Buske Thomas started her career with the Serena Wilcox Mysteries -- her first book was in print before she was 30. She then penned "The Magic Camera", co-authored four books with major publishers, met then-Gov Jesse Ventura, made Oprah.com's online mystery readers' pick, and took a break from books to write plays and choreograph musicals for local theater groups and amateur indie films.

Now she's back with a new book ANGELS MARK, a mystery/suspense novel. She's a decade older than she was when she started her career, and has matured as a writer. She hopes to scare and delight readers with her new book, book 4 the Serena Wilcox mysteries, that stands-alone (no need to read the previous titles first). ANGELS MARK is due to be published in August 2011 for Kindle, and September 2011 in paperback.

ANGELS MARK is set in a little town of about 4,000 people, Cannon Falls, Minnesota, which coincidentally was the surprise location of one of President Obama's recent stop-overs in the Midwest. More information about the Serena Wilcox Mysteries, Natalie Buske Thomas, and "Angels Mark" can be found at the author's web site.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put this book down, October 15, 2000

This review is from: Camp Conviction (Serena Wilcox Mysteries) (Paperback)
I was instantly drawn into the cleverly woven storyline. The novel takes several unexpected twists and turns that really keeps your interest through to the very last page. I found myself wanting more when I got to the end. The main characters are very vivid and likable. Thomas does a fine job of creating real life mysteries that drive your imagination. I absolutely enjoyed this book and recommend it highly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another enjoyable book, October 15, 2000

Another enjoyable book from Natalie. She is an up and coming writer with great potential. Her stories are easy to read and keep the readers attention from front to back. Also try out Gene Play (the first in the series) and the 2nd Virtual Memories (which is my personal favorite).
