I'm sure glad I got dis tape when it was still available (it's out of print now) & right from da getgo, You start laffin', just as soon as you hear da hunter in da upper bunk rip one as a wake-up call & a woken-up hanter shouts "GAS ATTACK!!! GAS ATTACK!!! IT SMELLS LIKE MUNGO'S FEET!!!" you know you're gonna be gigglin' uncontrollably till you sitt yerself!!!!
& just when it couldn't get funnier, Muusti farts on da camp cook to wake him up!!! "MUSTI, YOU STINKIN' PIG YOU, DAT ONE BURNT MY LEG (COUGH, COUGH)!!!" Pure Hilarity!!!

Yooper fun,

You don't need to be a Yooper to enjoy this, but it doesn't hurt. I personally am not, and I still crack up everytime I listen to it. They started as a local group wandering through Michigan's Upper Penninsula (UP.. Yoopy.. get it?) singing comedy songs about deer hunting, mosquitoes, beer, poverty, and other facets of northwoods rural life. After developing quite a following there, they broadened the range a bit to include other areas in the Great Lakes region, but between the accents and the topics, I suspect most people who've never been to this area would listen to the album and get a few laughs, but wouldn't be rolling on the floor like a local. Camp Fever, specifically, is actually about half songs and half skits. I prefer the skits, but the songs are classic Yoopers (before there were some member changes, and they now seem to have gone more to the lame potty humor) in that they are clever, hilarious, and oh so true to a Yooper life. I hate to recommend it only related to other things, but if it pushes you over the edge to the add to cart button... If you watched and enjoyed Escanaba in da Moonlight, or perhaps listen to groups like Arrogant Worms and Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie despite not being Canadian, you could do much worse that to pick up Da Yoopers hilarious early albums. |
