3.0 out of 5 stars not all of this is good but some is, February 23, 2011
This review is from: Camp Horror Double Feature: Vampires Embrace/Through Dead Eyes (DVD)
Of the two films, watch only Through Dead Eyes with the very attractive Diane Grotke in the moving role of the blind visionary Maggie Russo. The love scene with the equally lonely and frustrated detective is much better than the usual commercial crap, and I only regretted that there was no "happy ending" for the two brief lovers. My seeing this film was based on the presence of James Doohan, physically very changed from his Star Trek days, and the picture obviously did not enjoy much in the way of budgeting; nevertheless, I found it to be one of the more worthwhile experiences of American cinema since the emergence of cheapness in the 1980's. Watching believable humans rather than celebrities is much more meaningful, something I originally discovered with foreign movies and then observed in the made-for-tv films that started appearing in the 1970's as "Monday Night at the Movies", etc., on prime time. I only wish the two main actors in this movie were in more shows.
