5.0 out of 5 stars Camp Rock Rocks!
My 7 year old daughter loved the movie and now loves playing the soundtrack. She was able to see Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers in concert this summer and she loves them both. We don't care for the "Too Cool" song since it sends the wrong message to girls, but overall the songs are fun and upbeat. Demi can really sing great.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's really not bad
The Jonas Brothers "Play My Music" is my favorite on the album. But Demi Lovato is a very talented girl as well. There is something raw and genuine in her voice, and it really shows in "This is Me." The songs aren't terrible, but were you really expecting a Grammy-nominated album here? It's good for what it is. The songs are cute, but wouldn't particularly cut it Kiss-FM...

5.0 out of 5 stars This soundtrack lives up to its name. It rocks!, June 18, 2008
This review is from: Camp Rock (Audio CD)
This CD is filled with upbeat and catchy songs that will cater to people who enjoyed similar Disney soundtracks like High School Musical and Hannah Montana. The standout songs for me are We Rock, Play My Music, and This is Me, but it's so hard to choose from so many styles.

1. We Rock - 5/5 : The title song is an awesome feel good song that has a strong beat and great group vocals. It's a very catchy tune that will have you moving to the beat. A+
2. Play My Music - 5/5 : Great song by the Jonas Brothers. It has a steady beat, good singing, and an uplifting tone. Fantastic overall.
3. Gotta Find You - 4/5 : A slow and sweet song about trying to find an unknown singer. I like it, but it's not as memorable as the other outstanding songs.
4. Start the Party - 5/5 : A very techno-like song with a strong background instrumentals. This reminds me of Corbin Bleu's style because it has a quick tempo and talks about getting up and moving. A
5. Who will I be - 4.5/5 : A song by Demi Lovato about choosing your own destiny in life. The message is great, but somehow the song doesn't particularly stand out. A-
6. This is me - 5/5 : A fantastic song about being true to yourself and standing proud. This song shows Demi's talent and is one of the best songs on the album.
7. Hasta la vista - 1/5 : Not my style. The notes, the chorus, and the style just don't match. I think it tries too hard with trying to blend hip hop with pop and ends up falling short.
8. Here I am - 3/5 : A slower song about getting back up when you're knocked down. The beat, the lyrics, and the chorus are all pretty generic and forgettable. Mediocre song.
9. Too Cool - 5/5 : A very upbeat and catchy song that works on many levels. It reminds me of the Hannah Montana style with quick and upbeat lyrics accompanied by a strong beat and a variety of instruments. This was the surprise hit of the album for me.
10. Our Time is Here - 3/5 : This song attempts to give a strong sense of accomplishment and victory, but it doesn't quite make it for me. It feels a little bland.
11. 2 Stars - 4.5/5 : A song that's similar to Too Cool. It doesn't have quite the same punch, but it has a unique sound to it that is very enjoyable.
12. What it takes - 4/5 : Another hip-hop/pop crossover that works a lot better than Hasta la Vista. The chorus is a little weak, but the song overall is not bad.

Camp Rock is going to be a very successful show and this soundtrack proves that it has what it takes to match High School Musical. I can't wait to see the show because the songs will probably make more sense in the context of the story, but until then, get this and Rock On!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Top Notch Tweener Pop, August 2, 2009
This review is from: Camp Rock (Audio CD)
Hot on the trail of the first two "High School Musical" movies, "Camp Rock" coupled (at the time) Disney Channel newcomer Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers for a fun little musical that quenched the thirst of young tweeners waiting for the HSM 3 film. I've watched the first two "High School Musical" shows and also caught the television release of "Camp Rock" with my daughter. I have to admit that I prefer the music of "Camp Rock."

The soundtrack itself is very good. It never strays too far from the Disney Channel musical formula, which means the listener gets plenty of high energy, sing-along quality tunes. While the Jonas Brothers got an obvious push from performing on this soundtrack, I feel that Demi Lovato actually stood above them and the rest of the singers on this album. Her signature song, "This Is Me," showcases her vocals. She also shines on "Who Will I Be" and fronts the singers alongside Joe Jonas on the wonderful "We Rock."

Other standouts on this album include "Play My Music" by the Jonas Brothers, "What It Takes" by Aaryn Doyle and "Too Cool" by Meaghan Martin.

For infectious pop that won't grate the nerves, I recommend the "Camp Rock" soundtrack. The songs are very good and you can play them around your youngsters with no worries about lyrical content. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kids love it, August 21, 2008

But more important mom likes it too.
I feel ok letting them listen to this at such a young age.
They are getting to the point where they want more than their toddler tunes but not ready for dad's cd collection yet lol.
This is a happy medium where i do not have to worry about the language on it and guess what to those saying it is sickly sweet what is wrong with that exactly??? this is for KIDS and i for one am sick of people and society trying to tell me kids need to grow up faster! What is wrong with kids still being kids and not having to worry about the junk out there in the world right now.
They love to sing and dance to the music on this and that is the point of it all that they are having fun and in a safe enviroment not being exposed to trash that is out there.
This is a nice cd that the kids enjoy i give it 4 stars.

It came to me within the number of days they said and it was in good shape. It didn't come quickly and I was beginning to think I wasn't going to get it. Everything else I had ordered came much sooner. It was new like they said.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful for teens and tweens :), August 27, 2011
This review is from: Camp Rock (Audio CD)
I'm a 17 year old girl, and I saw the movie 'Camp Rock' on tv when I was 14 years old. The music is great and catchy, and sends a great message to my fellow teens! "This Is Me" and "Who Will I Be" are my favorite songs in the album. I recommend this as a birthday present or Christmas/Hanukkah present for teens or tweens.

ok. well first off my opinion, it has a good message, the songs are pretty good. demi and the jonas brothers obviously have talent.

now, to the people who are bashing this cd-they aren't trying to make rock music, they called the movie camp rock because it was a summer camp for aspiring musicians. plus you obviously have no lives for taking the time out of your day to rate something aimed to make kids happy. if you don't like them, fine. not everyone loves everyone else. thats fine. Im not going to freak out and tell you why you should love them.

bottom line- i'm a kid and more mature than you bashers.
