From the Back Cover

* "CAMPAIGN BOOT CAMP is a passionate call to public service--and a practical guide for making that service more productive. Christine Pelosi is a sharp and knowledgeable drill sergeant looking to whip our democratic process back into shape." --- Arianna Huffington --- * "A must-read for everyone who wants to bring change, renew hope, and revitalize our nation." --- Former Senator Max Cleland --- * Distilling best practices from across the political spectrum, Pelosi shows aspiring leaders how to master the fundamentals of campaigning -- management, message, money, and mobilization. Drawing on her own successful boot camps, Pelosi lays out a 7-step guide to effective campaigning at all levels of public service, including nonprofit work.

1. Identify Your Call to Service,

2. Know Your Community,

3. Build Your Leadership Teams,

4. Define Your Message,

5. Connect with People,

6. Raise the Money,

7. Mobilize to Win. * Along the way, Pelosi features leadership lessons from successful public servants and political professionals with diverse backgrounds and experiences--making CAMPAIGN BOOT CAMP both a helpful guide to participatory democracy and an inspiring collective memoir.

This is an excellent book for campaign organizers with no experience whatsoever in campaign management. It is a step by step "do it yourself" campaign guide, easy to read and that provides basic tools to oversee a political campaign

Christine Pelosi has written a primer on How To Run. (Also, on how NOT to run, when that's the right thing to do.) She's got the background and experience to know the lessons of how to go about running for office, the first-hand experience of training people to do it, and a wealth of voices who back up her practical advice with their first-hand stories of why they ran and what they learned. Practical. Solid. Essential for the first-time campaigner, the twenty-year incumbent, the journalist, and the woman on the street who wants to get an understanding of How It All Works.

This, to me, was more about the authors own experience working on campaigns and her mothers campaign. I read the entire thing and found it rather useless. I wish I could review it better but it is not as good as many of the other books out there. I only read it further because I wanted to see if I was missing something or if the beef would be further down the road; nothing. I am far from a fan of Nancy Pelosi but I thought her daughter would step away from her mother. Alas, all she did was talk about her mother, her experiences and far fetched ideas for a campaign.

I will say this...it is a very Progressive book, so if you're a Liberal Democrat, Conservative Republican or a true Independent, this book really isn't for you. It's typical college rhetoric perfect for the progressive candidate.
