This review is from: The Campaign for North Africa (Hardcover)
I have a number of books on the North Africa campaign but this is my favorite. Mr Coggins was an artist and he has weaved many, fine maps and illustrations into his story. There are over 250 maps and illustrations that adds to the descriptions of the engagements. The book includes all the key land engagements of the British and the Americans against Rommel but it also includes the air and sea encounters as well. Malta and Sicily are especially mentioned.
Illustrations include tanks, ships, planes, guns and other weapons used during the war that adds to the story. There is also a chronology and a listing of key participants. Even if you have other books on North Africa, you should consider adding this one to your library; it will add to your experience. Mr Coggins also has a fine book on Guadalcanal as well and both are highly recommended.

This book has more maps than a Thomas Brothers Guide!
It really helps when trying to understand the Americian operations & British Operations. Author writes well, easy to understand what's happening. Interesting diagrams explain things like how German "S" mines work, how british sappers actually clear a minefield. The line drawings are great. It's like x10 Ospery books rolled into one. Highly recommended! |
