Review Rebuttle,
This review is from: The Campaign That Couldn't Be Won (Paperback)
In Mr. Holt's review of Dr. Jonas's Book, The Campaign That Couldn't Be Won" he asks the question, "What could possibly possess a fat and dowdy house to write a staggering book about a school board election she clearly didn't understand, nine years after the fact..." One might ask the question, "What could possibly possess Mr. Holt to write a review years after a book has been published and attack the author on the grounds of weight and the ability to run a household?" Are the accomplishments and writings of Winston Churchill and Benjamin Franklin suspect because they were portlier than some of their contemporaries? What a pathetic comment. Also, Dr. Jonas is not now and never was a housewife, which in itself is a worthy profession. She is a fulltime professional woman and a homemaker, which means that not only did she teach at Washington University and runs a consulting firm, but at the time the book was written, she also had the run a household for her husband and son and appeared weekly on Channel 5 News. But ultimately, what does any of this have to do with the quality of the writing, the content or veracity of the facts or the relevance of the work. When a review starts with a personal, inarticulate and clumsy attack, one can only disregard the rest.

The writing is superb. The author is so good that Oprah's recommendation should be immediate. Read this book.
