I have previously purchased books and sold them back at the local college book store. I have never had a problem other than the price you pay and what you get back when selling the book back. There has never been a problem with the condition of the book when selling them back as they have always been well taken care of. This past semester, I decided to try Amazon textbook rental as this appeared to be a better deal. I was very wrong. Out of three books received, one was new and two were used. At the end of the semester, I sent the three books back. Ironically enough, I received a notification on the two used books that they were rejected for return and that I would be charged the "buyout" price which is roughly twice the price of purchasing the book brand new. This is in addition to what I paid in the rental fee for each book. My guess is that either they have too many of this particular book or a newer version is now being used. I will not be using this service again.

This textbook is really well organized and very concise. Complicated topics were made understandable with great examples, connections, and images. Also, the images and tables were always on the same page as the text. At the beginning of each chapter, there is a map of what each section covers and the sections are short and manageable to get through.

Only thing i wish was said that the book didnt come with an access code. I was expecting the code but didnt come with the book, so I had to go buy the code on line. other than that the book it self is good and it was shipped very quickly.

The book was a rental and arrived With the binding separated from the book. I emailed right away to inform them and decided to keep the book since my class was starting and there was no time for a replacement but would expect not to be penalized for the condition of the book upon return. I had included a picture of the book after I opened the box. I would still probably rent from them again, depending on how this return is handled.

The book and is a great tool for class, although not a requirement for my class. The Mastering Biology that comes with it is excellent for studying including the pretests and flashcard options.
The book came quickly and was in excellent shape. Thanks!

Referencing the ISBN number given by the profession, this book was priced the best i could find online new,
with quick shipping. The book is exactly as advertised. Exactly what I needed for this
college class of which I requested the ISBN number to find it since there are many different
versions of this book (for ipads, on DVD, with a study guide and some other electronic versions
that are cheaper but not a physical book, but adverstised as "the book". I even found some advertised
with the write picture to this ISBN number, so you thought you were getting the book, but it was
for a Nook, or something like that. It was packaged to protect it inside a box with air filled padding.
Very satisfied.

Great for describing complicated concepts and making them more understandable. Lots of colored diagrams and helpful images as well. This book has done a lot to help me in my college biology class. The questions at the ends of chapters are extremely helpful and have made a big impact on my exam grades; I highly recommend using the end of chapter review questions for any type of studying with this book. I myself am primarily a tactile learner and I find answering questions helps me learn the most. Great textbook!
