This review is from: Camper Van Beethoven (Audio CD)
I'm so glad this CD, along with the other Camper stuff has been reissued outside of the box set. I still have my original tape that I played pretty much every day driving to my R.O.P. class at the Monterey Airport, or driving to Santa Cruz to try & find old records before the earthquake.

My favorite CVB record!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great group, good album, February 28, 2005

I was a teenager when this first came out. I always LOVED the song "Good Guys and Bad Guys," and I still do. It's one of Camper's catchiest, funniest, and most memorable songs. The rest of the album is a lot more trippy and psychedelic than you might expect from "Good Guys and Bad Guys." There's a nod to Pink Floyd, as well as many references to Led Zeppelin. Camper Van Beethoven's sound is very difficult to describe if you have never heard them...rock, folk, country, middle eastern, reggae...all of it is mismashed into something completely new and foreign-sounding. They rely heavily on the violin for some of the main melodies...they are capable of rocking out and also capable of very subtle, intricate music. What I liked about them was they ALWAYS had a sense of humor and NEVER took themselves too seriously, even in their trippiest, most psychedelic songs. Intelligent lyrics, great deadpan delivery by Dave Lowery, and best of all...they are back together now (New Roman Times, their latest CD, is excellent). This CD has some extra material on it and is really a good bargain for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Home is Where the Van Is, November 5, 2007
This review is from: Camper Van Beethoven (Audio CD)
I have been listening to this disc steadily for years. Just when I think I might get tired of it - I laugh again. I rarely run into someone who has heard of CVB, and that is a shame. This is a great disc.

I saw them twice in the eighties and would go see them next week again. This disc has some serious flavor in the kool-aid. I have 3 other discs, a Cracker and a Monks of Doom. This is my favorite of the batch.
