This review is from: Camper's Guide to Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia: Parks, Lakes, and Forests : Where to Go and How to Get There (Camper's Guides) (Paperback)
Pros -
The book puts a lot of valuable information in one place. If you are looking for a campsite in these four states, the book is a good place to start. The book includes campsites at state and national parks, forests, lakes, and recreation areas. It does not include privately operated campsites. The book is organized in chapters by state. For each state there is a map with the locations of the parks, numbered, and a list of parks. Then in the body of the chapter the parks are listed alphabetically, which is a little confusing. For each park there is a map of the park, a brief description (including location and directions), a list of facilities and policies (e.g. are reservations accepted or required), and contact information.

Cons -
The book appears to be written by someone who has not, for the most part, been to these campsites. The information in the book does not convey much about the more intangible differences between the parks - are they full of kids, or more geared to an older crowd, are they buggy (and when), etc.

Also, the photos are not very good or very illuminating. East Coast parks do tend sometimes to look all the same, but that is no excuse for what look like photos out of someone's personal photo album (only I have no idea who the people are.)

Conclusion -
Buy the book if you are planning to camp regularly in this area and want a lot of information about local campsites in one place. But you will need to turn to other resources to research particular parks. Don't bother if you are looking for specific information on just one or two campsites.
