An essential guide for the last frontier, June 20, 2011
This review is from: Camping Alaska: A Guide to Nearly 300 of the State's Best Campgrounds (State Camping Series) (Paperback)
In planning a trip to Alaska I really would have no idea where to start if it wasn't for this book. I have always found it difficult when using a camping guide to get a really good sense of what to expect from certain campsites just from reading about it, but with Camping Alaska this was not the case. It is very well written and from the descriptions the author gives you get a clear vision of what the campsites and scenery will truly be like.
I wouldn't call myself an expert camper, but I am an outdoor enthusiast and I've spent my fair share of time in the dirt from Death Valley to Glacier National Park and everywhere in between and every destination I have gone to the biggest question has always been, "what are the best sites to go to?" This book answers those questions. The book also is really great with letting you know what amenities you will find at the sites, which is nice because I do enjoy having a shower every now and then. I highly recommend this book to anybody even just considering taking a trip to Alaska. And I guarantee that if you're on the fence about taking a trip to the last frontier, this book will convince you that it's a must. This author gets an A+ in my book.
