great camping guide book,

This review is from: Camping Oregon, 2nd (Regional Camping Series) (Paperback)
This is a great camping guide. It has all the campgrounds listed. It could have had another rating like beauty of the campground, but I loved it. From the description I could tell if we would like the campground or not and if it turned out not to be the nicest one, we could look up all other campgrounds in the area. The maps were helpful, directions easy and descriptions mostly fit. It's amazing how many nice campgrounds there are in Oregon! Also it is very well organized and you can find your way through the book very quick.

better books,

i didn't love this book. in fact, i returned it. It DOES seem to list all the campgrounds, which is nice, but here's a short list of why I didn't like it:
1) No scenic beauty ratings/quality of site ratings. I know this is somewhat subjective, but rough idea of whether or not it's a pretty area or if I'm setting up my tent next to an RV is nice. 2) Not enough/poorly organized maps. I felt like i had to do a ridiculous amount of flipping back and forth to figure out campsite locations. the numbering of sites on the map seems to follow no apparent order. So one campsite could be 1 on the map and the site right next to it could be number 16. This is irritating. 3) No icons that tell you about amenities. I DID like the table that they had at the beginning of each section that detailed campsite characteristics, but since it was oftentimes hard to tell just how close campsites were to each other, its nice when flipping through to be able to see a rough sketch of site offerings. In short, if you want something that lists EVERY campsite, this is your book. Personally, i like a better organized book that give a better snapshot of each site.

My husband & I enjoy getting out and "camping" (these days in a trailer)
and this book is perfect for being compact, easy to take along, and full of information. We know we'll be using it a lot as we plan to travel and sight-see the Oregon coast this spring.
