For the price, and for a map, you get a lot of info and opinions.Better info then in any of the books. cancun alive is good but this is better--if you are going to playa del carmen-you should bring this map

I would not THINK of traveling to Playa del Carmen without one of Laura and Perry's maps. Their new Playa del Carmen map is an ambitious undertaking indeed--they are mapping a city that has grown from 10,000 to over 150,000 inhabitants in less than ten years. What makes this map special is the personal touch. You will see not just streets, but locations of hotels, shops, and restaurants with, best of all, Laura and Perry's personal recommendations. This map is BETTER than Fodor's or any tour guide out there for the independent traveler looking for tips. They know what visitors want, from beer prices at the beach bars to nuts-and-bolts like supermarkets and banks. This map is a labor of love for a city that grabs the first time visitors and turns them into converts. I know; I'm one of them. I have been to Playa del Carmen six times and am buying a place here.
