5.0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
Even young budding artists can learn to draw with this simple and colorful book. Easy, step-by-step instruction and vivid crayon and marker illustrations are enticing to young children. This was a great tool for my 6-year-old daughter who loves to draw, as she could easily complete the drawings in the book. I highly recommend this one for beginners!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for Building Confidence, but Result Doesn't Approach Realism
This is a step-by-step guide to drawing very simple representations of different kinds of people: giants, workers, an angel, a ballerina. The instructions are very easy to follow, and the youngest artists will be gratified by their ability to imitate the pictures in the book. The book's main limitation is that the resulting pictures do not approach realism. This ought...

The wonderful , colorful illustrations inspire children in an easy step by step non-intimidating way. Even the 5th graders at the school I teach art at love this book and so do I.

This book is great! Very cute to look at, easy to follow, and the colorful, fun pictures are wonderful. We have this for my son, but all of his friends (girls and boys, 6 years old) want to draw everything on every page and they can do it very well. Steps are simple to master for ages as young as 4, and the book helps build confidence because the kids can really draw what is shown. Variations are easy too. We love it. Great gift idea!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very basic book for younger kids, August 1, 2009

This review is from: I Can Draw People (Usborne Playtime) (Paperback)
My almost 6 year old daughter enjoys this book. It's fairly basic, and not a large book (about 30 pages). It has the following people that can be drawn:

workman, angel, giant, pirate, queen/king, ballerina, soccer player, scuba diver, astronaut, parachutist, skier, ice skater, cowboy, horse and rider, and a page for making faces with different emotions (sad, angry, etc.)

4.0 out of 5 stars inspires complete drawings, September 26, 2010

I like this book because it shows the characters in a couple of different positions and with a background, so it gives the child an idea for a drawing that they can build on. Plus it's a little more advanced than children's drawings, but not in a different world like many of the how-to-draw books, so it fits in well with what an eight-year-old might draw naturally. There are eleven two page spreads: workman, angel, giant, pirate, queen and king, ballerina, soccer player, scuba diver, astronaut, parachutist, skier, ice skater and cowboy, then two pages of faces and three for a horse and rider.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Can Draw People, July 18, 2008
This review is from: I Can Draw People (Paperback)
This is a great beginners book for preschool age children. It's also great for teaching yourself and your child. I'm not a great drawer and I loved this book. I can do this and so can you. There are easy to follow step by step instructions along with colorful pictures of what it is supposed to look like, using basic shapes. They can draw a workman, an angel, a giant, a pirate, a queen, a ballerina, a soccer player, a scuba diver, an astronaut, a parachutist, a skier, an ice skater, different faces and more. So, there's lots for them to practice and learn to draw. A must have for will be artists. You will want to post all their creations.

I love this book. I have no drawing skills but this book is so easy to follow. I purchased this book for my 5 year old and she has been able to follow each step and complete the pictures. With practice I can see her skills improving. I also purchased "I can draw animals" and we love this book as well.

Hours and hours of fun! My 4 year old daughter and my 4 year old nephew received these for Christmas. They both use these books for hours and we also do it as a family. These (I Can Draw Animals, I Can Draw People, What Shall I Draw Today) are the only ones we have so far, but they are super. Not only are these books teaching my little girl how to draw, but reinforcing time alone drawing, group activity, sharing and "Please pass the yellow", etc... Every child should have these books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book - especially for little kids!, August 11, 2011
This review is from: I Can Draw People (Usborne Playtime) (Paperback)
My daughter loves to draw - I got some of these "I can Draw" books along with some others... this series is definitely best for her age (5) since the pictures are simple enough for her to do. The other books we bought were for older children that were too advanced for her to enjoy.

I got these for my 5 yr. old granddaughter who loves to draw. She is often frustrated with being unable to draw a particular character & this book along with others in the series breaks it down into doable segments. Probably good from 3.5 to 8 years.
