It changed my life,

A fine collection of short stories from Sheckley. My personal favorites are the title piece (a musing on sentience), the amazing "Pas de Trois of the Waiter, the Chef, and the Customer" - a little story told in Rashomon-like fashion, where three characters experience the same events radically differently - and "Cordle to Onion to Carrot", which persuaded me that people can truly reinvent themselves. Although I'm a longtime fan of Sheckley, I believe that nonfans and even non-science fiction fans would love this one.

I thought this book was completely entertaining. I was amazed at the way that Sheckley was able to give my mind a good working over with mere words. Truly he is the master at science fiction. I am a huge fan of any work that he has done.

This collection of Robert Sheckley's short stories is for a lack of a better word, great. All the stories make you think about how you view the world. Plus, you get a moral out of most of them as well! A little parable for the SF adult! Once again the master of satire has made my day; maybe he can make yours! This book is out of print, but you can find it used online easily, and it is well worth it.Over and out, TJ

There are some weird stories in this book - like, not in a good way - but there are at least 3 or 4 totally hilarious stories in here that will knock your socks off. This guy was a genius.

It's been a while since I read this, so I'm not sure which stories are in this one, but the story "Can You Feel Anything When I Do This?" is amazing. On the face, it's absurd, but when the robot said, "How can anything feel and anything not feel?" it got to me. Yes, I'm insane, but I think perhaps the trees have their lusts and the streets have their passions....
