5.0 out of 5 stars NIOBIA DOES IT AGAIN!!!!
Although this book was shorter than her other books, Niobia has created two new characters to love. Maxwell and Gabrielle's story was sexy, funny, and real-which is refreshing in the boring romance age of the perfect man meeting the perfect woman to have the perfect relationship.

5.0 out of 5 stars NIOBIA DOES IT AGAIN!!!!, March 5, 2005
This review is from: Can?t Get Next to You (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Although this book was shorter than her other books, Niobia has created two new characters to love. Maxwell and Gabrielle's story was sexy, funny, and real-which is refreshing in the boring romance age of the perfect man meeting the perfect woman to have the perfect relationship.

The love scenes were steamy, sensual, & educational. The scene on the couch made me heart rate jump up. You can always learn some little treat or trick to use for your own escapades with your mate.

I wanted to breathe life into Maxwell and have him for myself. The brother was sexy and raw but had a soul that ran deep. The descriptions of his paintings-he's a artist-were a refreshing addition to the story.

Gabrielle's journey to find her self-confidence was a refreshing change. It's important to realise that not only full figured woman have body image issues. (And the scene where she gets the wax job is FUNNY!!)

I read this book in one night. I am an avid reader and I rank Niobia with the heavyhitters-brenda jackson and rochelle alers. For those who aren't familiar with her work yet, the girl can write!

Get next to CAN'T GEXT TO YOU...trust me you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, funny and not-to-be-missed, March 14, 2005
This review is from: Can?t Get Next to You (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Niobia Bryant keeps getting better and better. Can't Get Next to You is a sexy, delightfully funny and passionate story of a couple who try to hide from love. Gabrielle lives out every woman's fantasy when she gets a makeover that reveals her true beauty and gives her the confidence to let Maxwell, her boss of six years, know she loves him. And he loves her too, so much that he's afraid of hurting her. Can a notorious player settle down with just one woman? You bet he can. Maxwell gives his heart and soul to Gabby in an ending out of a modern fairy tale. This book is a must read. It has all the traditional elements with a fresh perspective thanks to Ms Bryant's clever use of language and some of the steamiest love scenes you'll ever read. This one is definitely a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars suckerforromance, May 25, 2005
This review is from: Can?t Get Next to You (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Wow! I read this one in one night, I couldn't put it down. It was sassy, romantic, steamy and just a good read. The characters seem to jump off the page and you become engrossed in their story. When Max claims Gabby must have put a root on him because he can't eat, sleep or get her off his mind, I chuckled. Gabby was a real woman and let him have it when he did not come correct. Kudos to Bryant, she even parlays into the realm of the essence and decay of the city and talks about reaching back to bring another sister or brother up.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Ugly Duckling gets her man...., December 20, 2005

In "Can't Get Next to You" Niobia Bryant shows that if you are determined to get what you want it can be done. Gabby has always seen herself as nothing special especially to Max. She thought that she was out of his league until her sister and a friend shed some light on that. But now looking through new eyes (contacts...LOL) she sees that she is a looker and she can compete with the best of the best even Penelope (who isn't too please with Gabby's new look). Max likes what he sees but doesn't want to mess up the friendship that he and Gabby have established. They give into temptation and it opens a door to other feelings that they have always had for each other but have always kept them hidden. This is a great story and well worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Love Story, December 28, 2005
This review is from: Can?t Get Next to You (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I had never read a book by Niobia Bryant before this one and from reading this book I concluded that she can write her butt off...This book takes you places you have never been before (at least I had never been before). Gabby and Maxwell are so real in this love story; they start out as friends and then become lovers. They go through their ups and downs, you have to read the book to find out for yourself what I mean! I loved reading every word though!! This is one book I may have to read again! I want to know more about Gabby and Maxwell...Maybe a sequel??

LOVED IT.....i fell over laughing at the part with the FED EX delivery guy that was funny. But good book good read and can't wait to read about the sister. I just started reading this author and have not been disapointed so far.

Everybody has a different opinion when writting a review if we all had the same reviews or opinions it would be boring. Reviews can sometimes down play a really good book or up play a really bad book its up to us to read the book and judge for ourselfs and draw our own conclusion thats the best thing about a review its like a silent debate....

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed, April 28, 2005
This review is from: Can?t Get Next to You (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was my first time reading one of Ms. Bryant's books and I really enjoyed it. I read this book in a few hours. The story was beautifully written, except for a few typo's. A typical ugly duckling turn into a beautiful swan type story, never the less it was still a good book. The author was very detailed and therefore it gave a sense of who the characters were. From Gabby's infatuation with Maxwell, to the conniving Penelope, to the wise old Addie, you felt these characters. Ms. Bryant, keep up the good work.

A page turner, an all nighter, hated to put it down. As always, Ms. Bryant had me pulling for true love, and for eyes to be opened to what's right under our noses. Excellent story.
