Francis MacNutt is a treasure. He has a genuine heart for people, a heart for ministry, and a heart for healing. He is careful both in his handling of the Biblical data and in his handling of the clinical data, which are extensive. People who are suffereing from sexual distortions of various kinds are oppressed by the Enemy, and it's not okay to leave them that way...

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage, December 10, 2010
This review is from: Can Homosexuality Be Healed? (Paperback)
This book is pure garbage. What was Francis Macnutt thinking! I have read all of his books and enjoyed them all. This one is not worth the time. I can't believe that he didn't do some real research!
I have seen him twice with his wife and all they talk about are these wonderful healings that happen, but they never share how they brought these people into wholeness.
I think he is very mislead. Go ahead, try to contact some of the groups that he has listed in the book! Go for it! Don't just take what he says as truth, because he is very mislead.
Call anyone of these places and ask them some of the following!
1.How many people are healed of homosexuality in your groups? I can tell you right now, most of them don't keep track! Isn't that amazing!
2. Ask them what kind of format they use in there meetings! Exodus said that every meeting was different there was no format! Well isn't that intersting! Don't you think you would use a format, if something was really affective?
3. Ask them to give a definition of what healing of homosexuality is. Bet you will be surprised by there answer. Most will tell you that they still struggle everyday, if they are honest, and are learning to repress it. Don't take my word for it! Ask! Make sure you really press them about it. You don't want a simple little answer!
I could go on and on!
What a disappointment this book is for anyone who is suffering, because of this.

Francis MacNutt is a treasure. He has a genuine heart for people, a heart for ministry, and a heart for healing. He is careful both in his handling of the Biblical data and in his handling of the clinical data, which are extensive. People who are suffereing from sexual distortions of various kinds are oppressed by the Enemy, and it's not okay to leave them that way without informing them that healing is avaliable! Similarly, it would not be compassionate to tell a cancer patient that his condition is irreversible if there is, indeed, a cure avaliable. Fr. MacNutt and other deliverance / healing counselors who work with homosexuals, often in the face of ugly threats of violence from the homosexual community, are genuine heroes, as any former homosexual who has discovered wholeness through their ministry will be quick to acknowledge.

No.

A longer answer:
No, and do not attempt to, because you will only cause both head and heart aches for all parties involved.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dangerous Propaganda Garbage, September 12, 2010
By

For something to be "healed" it has to be sick to begin with. Being homosexual is not an illness that needs to be "healed." What needs healing is how some ignorant people in society still hold onto hateful - and frankly quite harmful - views on homosexuality.

Everyone needs to read this book. Many people are gone out of homosexuality and becoming heterosexuals. Many people believe that homosexuality is born with the human being, but the scientific theories proposed to confirm that have not been proven until today. The human body is born biological, natural and physically prepared for the heterosexuality. THE body of the man is biologically designed for the woman's body, and vice-versa. THE book shows this truth in a wonderful way.

This was an excellent book that sheds truth and understanding on a very misunderstood topic. It gives hope for healing to strugglers and their loved ones. I highly recommed it for anyone interested in the subject, especially couselors and ministers.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Secret to Healing: Persistent Prayer, May 18, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Can Homosexuality Be Healed? (Paperback)
Though most materials on homosexuality in the recent years has been moving toward the position that sexual orientation cannot be overcome, MacNutt came through in the 2006 edition of this book saying that it is possible. His approach is different from most any others I have read. In keeping with other books written by MacNutt, he is advocating a patient and persistent method of using prayer and counsel in combo to bring about change over a period of months. In addition, the book advocates the importance of healthy relationships between the gay man and other hetero men. Also, he quotes some statistics on successful healing, including secular therapies, which are rarely studied or published because it is not politically correct to discuss healing for homosexuals. In fact, I think the title of this book is likely a put-off to many because of that sentiment. Too bad. An open minded reader will gain much from this quick read.

1.0 out of 5 stars There is nothing wrong with gay people, April 20, 2010
By
Every year hundreds of people die from depression/suicide because society and religions discriminate against them
God loves all of us because of who He/She is not because of what two people consent to do, or not do.
Have you ever seriously considered this biased book can kill people, just like those pious Christians killed people in the crusades,
words like this can kill vulnerable gay people. Christian Talibanisms kills, Judgements kill, this is a cruel and wrong book.

before they judged it. Sort of bigoted, yes?

Same-sex attraction in no more immutable and unchangeable than any other developmental disorder. McNutt offers a combination of secular therapies and a belief in a higher power, and it has worked for many of people, people whom I personally know. Dr. McNutt is a pioneer in this type of therapy and his writing for the most part is clear and compassionate.

I feel no reason why people who love their personal sexual orientation feel the need to deny others who wish to change it for whatever reason, the power and means to do so because of their own small-mindedness and bigotry.
