Surprised by this book
on August 8, 2013
We have loved every other Gerald and Piggie book, so I assumed this one would be great too. But my 2 year old son was crying half way through it. Snake gets hit a few times, then pummeled by balls, thrown by Gerald and Piggie. After the first hit, my son was concerned and saying how snake got a bonk. And Snake looks like he's getting a bonk, he doesn't look like he's laughing it off. My son was upset when snake got his second bonk. I kept thinking the story would get better if I turned the page, but it didn't. He really began to cry at the third bonk. He didn't want to read any more. I read the rest later and honestly, I don't see the humor in this one. Snake is funny with some sarcasm, but why is it funny to pummel someone with balls? It's not. That part of the book just misses the mark. If your kid is at all sensitive to others, this is not the right book. IMO, this book pales in comparison to others in the series.
