The illustrator Taylor Southerland is my son and the oldest of my 4 kids...he also has 2 nephews, my grandsons, who are in the stages represented by the kids in this book. Taylor knows very well how it is to have kids try to interrupt your "business" in the bathroom after living with younger siblings and now having his nephew's living with us! You will enjoy this book....Taylor's mom Terrie

Too funny. As a father of a four year old boy, this short story was very relatable. I can only imagine he will be saying it back to me as he will think it's hilarious too.

The only reason this didn't get a five is because in my head I kept thinking. "PUT A LOCK ON THE DOOR".

This is the story of a parent (yes the drawings are of the father, but let me tell you mother's have the same issue, probably worse) just trying to have a little private time to do his business.

For some reason that is the moment when the kids must talk to him, show him, complain about something to him. When all he wants to do is his business. Maybe read the sports page, maybe a comic or two. But no, that is when the bell strikes and the rug rats run in.

The artistry is amazing on the illustrations. I actually kept wanting to look away because, you know, there was a man on the pot.

This isn't exactly a kids book. (Although there is nothing objectionable in it and it might help keep the rug rats out.) This is a parents rant saying all the things a parent thinks when interrupted doing his business.

And Oh.....I highly recommend this book.

The search for solitude is futile with young children about. This sweet plea resonates with anyone who cannot lock the bathroom door because they might need to referee or kiss a boo-boo or some other parental duty.

I loved the art. One picture came to my mind that I wanted to share with the author. I have friends who are now empty nesters. They adopted a small cat once the kids had moved out and they talk to her like a member of the family. She began to follow the Dad around and any time he sat on the toilet, she would climb between his calves and settle in to nap in his underwear/pants as they hung at half mast. The first time the Mom walked past the bathroom and saw a fluffy gray tail flitting between the Dad's legs she was freaked out. Of course, the Mom shared the story.

This book brings alive one of the many things about being a mom or dad all those parenting books don't tell you about when you are about to enter this wonderful yet exhausting world of parenthood. It brings humor to the truth that one never really gets a moment to themselves, even in the bathroom!! Really funny and a great book for any new parent and definitely a great father's day book. Also all profits go to charity so a fun book that pays back too!

Right or wrong, we read this book with our kids! We are now all quoting it and asking for a little peace in the bathroom. My 6 and 8 year old kids loved it, and we as Mom and Dad can certainly relate! Great book, very funny, and I love that the proceeds are going charity!

Keep 'em coming!
