A return to her roots.,

This is the best Doiron solo album, and (perhaps not coincidentally) it's also the Doiron album that sounds most like her former band, Eric's Trip.
I was a fan of Eric's Trip back in their heyday, and I learned only a couple weeks ago about Doiron's solo albums. Since then, I've gone through her entire back catalogue. Each album is discernibly different from the others. Some are stripped-down, primarly acoustic works that were literally recorded in one day. Some are lush with production. One album features mostly French vocals. This album stands head and shoulders above all the others. The album is perfectly balanced between loud songs and quiet songs. The loud, distorted guitars that were part of Eric's Trip's signature sound are back on several of the songs; the instrumentation is rough as ever around the edges, even while the production is stellar; and every single song is solid and beautiful.

Shades of Sarah Harmer, shades of The Breeders, a bit of 90's sounds, a bit of 00's sound. I really liked this CD. The songs are well written and the songs are well produced.
