Great Album,

I caught Keaton Simons on tour recently and liked what I heard. The album is quickly becoming one of my favorites and easily one of the best albums I've purchased this year. It has great diversity of sound, amazing harmonies, wonderful lyrics, and incredible guitar work. It's one of those albums that as each song starts you think, "THIS is my favorite," only to think, "No, THIS is my favorite" when the next song starts.
Good job Mr. Simons.

If I didn't watch Eric Roberts on Celebrity Rehab, I would never have known about Keaton Simons, Eric Roberts' stepson with his wife, Eliza Roberts. The adult Keaton Simons is 32-33 years old. While I'm not that familiar with music like I once was in the 1980s, I have found that we have to search for music on our own.
Keaton Simons is his own musician, songwriter, and performer. He doesn't need to ride on his stepfather's fame or any relative of his as well. His music is mature along the side of one of my favorites, Joe Henry. In fact, he reminds me of a younger Joe Henry. His songs and music is a mixture of sound and lyrics mostly about relationships. His music is not difficult to understand and his statements aren't political or detrimental to society. His music is the kind of music that I'm looking for in the music industry. I want music with solid lyrics and sound. Simons' sound is an acquired taste. I think he could still improve in that area. His lyrics are worth listening too most of all. He's got the voice of a poet in his work. His music should be heard more and played more on the radio. Unlike most of today's top performers, he doesn't have the same notoriety and it's a shame. I bet in about 10 years that Simons will be around and the top performers of today will have gone away. One like me can only hope.

Keaton Simons: brilliant album,

Looking at the various singer-songrwriters that come up on Keaton's album page at Amazon reminds me that he should be as big as them (Amos Lee, Ray LaMontagne, Matt Nathanson, etc.). Because he has the talent!
Many sides and emotions are expressed here, from smoky longing on "Without Your Skin" to upbeat and happy on "Good Things Get Better." "Misfits" is another cool song with really interesting lyrics. Keaton not only has a great voice but his guitar playing is stellar on this album. He can lay down sweet blues licks and finger-pick with the best of them. His skills are sublime! If you get a chance to see Keaton live definitely do so! He mostly tours doing solo acoustic sets which really gives gives these songs a new dimension and his acoustic guitar work is simply incredible. Get this CD and enjoy daily!
