Can the gift card be used in France?

Posted on Jun 1, 2012 3:21:12 PM PDT
You can log into your US Amazon account, then scroll to the very bottom of the page and click on "France", then order a gift card through the French website. It will bill to your US account. I've done this before and it works fine. If you don't speak French, open the website up using Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer and it should give you the option to translate the website into English.

Frequent's suggestion totally worked for me. All I had to do was sign in with my password once I got to the French site then right click on the page. Translate to English.

A couple of times I had to uses an online translator from French to English. I was able to buy a gift card though.

Sadly that dosen't work, because other amazon sites like the French site only accept credit card and want you to enter a new payment method.

Hi, I just did frequent's answer; meaning I logged into my US amazon account, clicked on France and then ordered a gift card which was paid through the US amazon account. NO problems whatsoever and the gift card was delivered by email 5 min later. The only hicup is that if you don't speak french it can be difficult. But when you click on 'France' it says right at the top of the page " Cheque Cadeaux" this means gift card. You click this and then it will give you 3 options. You choose what you want the e-card to say. the first is the amazon logo, the second says "une pensée pour toi" and that means "thinking of you" and the third is "bon anniversaire" which means happy birthday. Below that it will ask you how you want to send the card. Option 1. "envoyé par email"= send by email and then there is option two, which I don't remeber and finally option 3: "envoyer par courrier"= send by mail which costs a euro. After that, it will give you will have to log in, put in your payment info, and then "passer la commande"= place the order or continue with the order. Once you click that yellow button you are done and you will recieve a confirmation email, in french of course. I hope that helps. If you get stuck you can copy and paste the text into a website called that way if you don't read french you will be able to understand what it is telling you to do. Also I believe google transelator has a web page translating site so that could be an option as well. Anyway, worked like a charm for me!
