Excellent kit. This is the first decent kit I've seen that comes with the B+ model. It comes with everything you need to get started, except for a keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

As others have mentioned, the case isn't the best, but it isn't nearly as bad as some others have said. It's just a cheap-o case with a few quirks. Here are my tips to make the case work for you:

- When inserting the pi for the first time, slide the edge of the pi under the retaining tabs opposite the 2 posts, BEFORE pressing the posts through the holes on the pi. Then, carefully line up the posts to the holes on the pi and press down until it clicks into place.
- To remove the pi from the case, just squeeze the two posts in with your thumb and forefinger, and use your other hand to pull the pi up and out of the case.
- To open the lid of the case, there is a push-tab right above the micro SD card slot on the pi. You can't push the tab in from the outside. You must remove the micro SD card to get access to the inner part of the tab.
- To push the tab in, I've found that a guitar pick is the ideal tool. A small flat-head screwdriver would also work well. Just lightly push the tab in from the bottom and pull up on the case, and it'll pop right off.

So, if you plan on needing access to the case a lot, or want to customize it for a project, then it might be worth investing in a better case. But if you plan on always leaving it in the case or only needing occasional access, it really isn't that bad and does the job. I personally wanted a bit nicer looking and sturdier case and bought the

The new Raspberry Pi B+ model is a welcome update. You can read many posts about the changes from the "B" model, my two favorites are the added USB ports and the switch to a microSD card means it does not stick out. For me, the extra USB ports were not a "must have" once I had my project setup, but I would usually be wanting more ports during the initial setup. The HDMI cable is good for the first timer. Most of the rest of use already have a cable from prior projects.

When you add up the price of a RPi + power supply + microSD card + WiFi, this kit is a good price.

You will notice I did not include the case in my price example. This case is horrible. Unfortunately, CanaKit didn't have any choice since at of early August 2014 there are very few choices and this case is the least expensive. The reality is this case is perhaps worth about $1.99. It's what I would call a one-time use case. Once you snap the RPi-B+ into the case, removing it will likely break one of the little plastic posts. If you try to just "snap it in" like me, you may well miss the fact that one side must go into slots before snapping down on the two posts. Trying to remove and re-insert will likely break the pins. The top half of the case barely clicks onto the bottom. IT's not secure at all. Finally, I'm not a fan of the strangely curved top nor all of the slits for expansion cables. If I am building an experiment with lots of cables and wires, I'm not using a case and if I'm building a "permanent project" I want the case to seal things up as much as possible.

So I give zero stars for the case and pretty close to 5 stars for everything else.

Just when you thought the Raspberry Pi couldn't get any better, they come out with the new B+ iteration, with 2 more USB ports, additional GPIO pins, and a MicroSD slot. This is a welcome upgrade to the original model B, and CanaKit has bundled all the basics to get you up and running for whatever project you're working on. Just a quick heads-up though for anyone buying this, inside the case is a link to a YouTube video showing you how to install the Pi in the case. It may go against everything you believe in, but watch the video before you just shove the Pi in the case, or you'll end up breaking off the retention tabs like I did. The case is a very nice design, with an integrated mount for the Pi Camera if you want to add one, and it should hold your Pi very securely (as long as you don't break those retention tabs on the GPIO side). Plus, it has conveniently placed slots and openings for the camera cable, display cable, GPIO ports, and the LED indicators. The included power supply is very heavy duty, and has a nice long cord as well. The included Wi-Fi dongle has surprisingly good range for something as small as my thumb nail, and the SD card is a decent Class 6 card. All-in-all, this is an excellent value for what you get, and I would recommend this kit to anyone who wants to start playing around with the new Raspberry Pi B+ model.

This kit is really great. I've been a Windows lifer but now I'm hooked on Linux! When I ordered this kit they were advertising a 5V 700mAh power supply. I was just planning to use my cell phone charger with 5V 1Ah and scrap this one but then they upgraded to a 5V 1Ah after my order was processed. When I received my kit it contained a 5V 2.5Ah power supply! The Wifi dongle seems to have been upgraded as well and works great but for me it was not "plug and play" I had to edit some configuration settings to get it to work with Raspbian. My setup is in the basement on the opposite side of the house from where the WiFi router is located on the 2nd floor. I have not had any connectivity issues. Currently I have an Arduino (controlling 2 micro servo motors with a 7.4V power supply), Keyboard/Mouse, Wifi dongle and Logitech 270 hooked up to the 4 USB ports with the Pi running on Turbo overclocked with no performance or overheating issues. The Raspberry Pi B+ is really something special.
