From the Manufacturer

Canada Goose has developed a special talent for protecting celebrities, directors, camera men from the elements on movie sets around the world.  We were happy to respond when one star challenged us to create a full-length parka that would shield her from the cold while she waited to shoot her scenes but would look great when she went out for a night on the town.  Our Mystique design combines solid warmth and the kind of sleek good looks that make it work on-set and on the town. Calf-length and insulated with 625 fill power white duck down for warmth, but slim-fitting for a fashionable look, the Mystique has a versatile removable hood edged with coyote fur, a snug Velcro®-secured collar, two interior security pockets as well as two fleece-lined hand warmer pockets.

I debated between the Kensington and this model but finally decided to buy this coat because it is one of the few down coats that are really long. The Kensington has a better fit but only goes to the knees and I couldn't justify spending that much on a jacket when there are many others on the market that are the same length and warmth. I'm happy with my decision as I've found the jacket to be warm enough for walking around in the MN winters so far. The jacket is water resistant and seems to be wind resistant as I've not felt the wind go through it. I like the fact that I don't really have to wear long underwear underneath it if I want to walk outside. The jacket is a bit heavy. At 5'3" and 130 lbs I bought the medium which fits fine with a sweater except the sleeves are a little long. My husband says the jacket makes me look like a caterpillar but I'm hard pressed to find one this long that doesn't. It does go in at the waist to give a bit of shape. Overall I'm happy with the product.

I bought this coat after an LL Bean and a Patagonia weren't warm enough for the winter here in Northern Europe. This coat is amazing. The only thing to keep in mind is that it's not really comfortable, for me at least, above 15F because it's just too hot. But luckily I have the other, inferior coats for those temperatures! I love the way the coyote fur ruff can be tunneled forward to create a little warm pocket of breathable air in front of your face. I can stay warm for hours in this coat in temps as low as -20F. It is an investment, but it's worth if you know you'll use it over the long haul.

I bought this coat to go to Vermont for this ski season. Its super warm with only a t-shirt & jeans underneath. I didn't even need to wear gloves because the pockets are so well lined & warm. I get alot of compliments on it too. I live in New York and this winter has been brutal and this coat has been a godsend. If your looking for a great winter coat this it it!!

My fiance and I moved recently and I was terrified at the idea of my first winter in the midwest. I'm a Southern Californian born and raised, so I'd never been through a 'real' winter. I found this coat and I couldn't be happier. I love walking into work when it's below zero and being the only one that doesn't complain about the cold. I don't bother wearing anything other than a long sleeve shirt, and maybe a sweater. People said my first winter here would be harsh, but I've hardly noticed so far. And we've reached temps with windchill down near -20 here. I LOVE THIS COAT!

I'm quite petite (5'2" and 100lbs) so I was worried that I would look like I was wearing a giant sleeping bag, but for what it is, the coat is quite flattering. I got the xxs and it fits almost perfectly. I was also not sure that the hood would be great since it didn't seem to have a way of securing it. There is a wire in the fur ruff that you can bend to keep it up. While the down is only 625, it's clearly better quality than many of the 750/800 fill power down jackets I've tried on.

I checked out this parka for three years in a row, because it was so expensive. By the time that, each year, I'd gotten to the point where I thought I'd spring for the $800, the parka was sold out in my size. So the next year, I'd check it out again.

This year, my husband noticed me on Amazon, looking at the coat, and asked me about it. Hearing my story, he suggested a deal; he'd give me half the price of the coat as my Christmas present. I said "Yes!" and, two weeks later, the coat arrived.

How many ways can I say that I love this coat? It is the warmest coat that I've every worn, but for my mother's old fur, which is about as warm. The hood is fantastic; when it's up, you feel as though you are encased in a very warm cocoon. While this winter has not been harsh, I wore the coat on the one single-digit day that we had, and was warm as toast. This is from someone who is always cold; my sensitivity to cold is a family joke. ("It's 65 degrees Mom; put on your hat and gloves.")

Plus, the coat is good-looking, not clunky at all. One caveat: if you wear it over a business suit, purchase a size larger than your usual size.

A week or so after I'd started to wear the coat, while shopping in a store on Madison Avenue in NYC, I was told by the sales person, who was European, that in Europe, Canada Goose coats are so prized that people steal them out of gym lockers. I can see why. Definitely invest in this coat; it's a keeper!

Pros
* VERY WARM. This jacket has transformed my experience of winter. I basically don't get cold anymore, especially if I wear this coat with additional layers underneath.
* Snug fitting, warm collar and hood
* Sleeves have a long, snug cuff which keeps wind from entering the sleeves
* The hood has a brim which, when folded forward, keeps falling snow out of your face.
* The two exterior pockets are lined with fleece

Cons
* There is only ONE PAIR of exterior pockets. (Try finding a heavy-duty men's coat with only ONE PAIR of pockets!) And they are placed too high. I have to keep my elbows at less than 90 degrees to put my hands in the pockets, which gets uncomfortable after a while.
* For the price, the grade of down should be higher than 625.
* The fur is real. :( Fortunately it can be removed.
* The hood keeps coming unzipped from the jacket. I had to add a closure at the end of the zipper to keep it attached.
* If you fold back the brim of the hood, it sticks out at the corners and makes you look like a nun.
