Things you might like to know,
By Rick_Mooney (New England) - See all my reviews But I think you might like to be aware of some of the cool things about this parka that are not in the description. There are side accessible zippered hand warmer pockets behind each of the 4 outside front pockets the surprise being that the breast pocket ones are divided into 2 compartments, the one closest to you is at a great height, size, and are fleece lined. The forward compartment is unlined. The cuffs are recessed about 3 inches up into the sleeve making the fit between mitten cuff and parka sleeve a nice easy fit. On one shoulder there is a pen/pencil pocket with a small black target/wear patch at the top I think so you can easier tell where to return the pen/pencil to. On the other shoulder is another small pocket w/Velcro. Inside the parka there is a snow skirt and the sticky side of the Velcro attachment folds back on itself when not in use so that it doesn't stick to you and/or pick up all sorts of lint. There is another good size open pocket below the snow skirt as well as an inside breast pocket that is zippered and fleece lined. On the downside- It is a left handed zipper. First one I have ever had and it takes some getting used to. Also I would think that a company called Canada Goose would use goose down. But given their stellar reputation I am not going to complain about them using duck down in this parka. They do not try and hide it. It is right there in the description. The back of the absolutely gorgeous hood could use a Velcro tab so you could adjust how far forward the hood falls. I love this thing. I hope you will to!

Don't listen to the 1 star review by JP!,
This review is from: Canada Goose Expedition Parka (Apparel)
Canada Goose doesn't sell products from its website,canada-goose.com, which is why JP's review is invalid and irrelevant. I buy from backcountry.com and bloomingdales.com. Don't let JP's review ruin your online purchase of a Canada Goose. Canada Goose products are superior and make me wonder why I ever purchased North Face products. Just be sure to double check that the online retailer is listed on Canada Goose's website. If the deal seems to good to be true, it probably isn't true. I just wanted anyone who was put off by JP's review know that a Canada Goose is worth the price. They offer great products, that are built to last.

I got this parka just prior to starting University of Alaska in Anchorage some ten years ago. In all the time since then, I have yet to feel really cold while wearing it and, despite heavy use in the Chugatch mountain range and way up in Denali, even been to Point Barrow a few times which is as far north as you can go, it has yet to show any signs of wear and tear. This jacket is extremely warm, yet never feels large or bulky and with the thigh length it gives just a very solid warm feeling. If anything this thing needs a heat warning! My basic rule is to not wear this parka unless it is at least 25F outside, any warmer and you are just asking to be baked. From 25F to 0F, a simple tee shirt and this parka, unzipped, is really all i need. Below 0 is where this coat really starts to come into it's own, all the way to -40 all I wear is a tee shirt, with sweatshirt, this parka zipped and I am left able to enjoy the winter. It is windproof and waterproof so laying down in the snow and making snow angles with the little kids is just plain fun.

Not cheap but worth every $ spent on it. No doubt one of the best winter protections out there.

From the windy low 40's to well below "0",this is a comfortable coat. I wore it in a Utah mountain blizzard with fur trimmed hood up and it was like being indoors. It looks great. I get a lot of compliments on it. When you pick it up you notice it's weight of 4lbs, but you don't feel that weight when you are wearing it. For a good fit you have to order it one size smaller than you normally order -- for me, a large instead of the x-large that I normally order. I got mine through the Amazon affiliate Altrec in Oregon. The service was fantastic.

Very nice jacket, timely delivery. Very high quality and rugged. It is heavy but very comfortable. Runs a little big for normal sized people. However worth the price.

Watch out for fakes,

Don't EVER buy a Canada Goose product online - only buy from a retailer where you and touch and feel the product. I bought one online from the Canada Goose website and I was shipped a cheap, fake knock off from China. It didn't even look remotely close to the real thing.
