They did just fine: Treat Yourself to Some Christmas Spirit,

This is my very first review on Amazon, but I am taking the time because I think the other reviewer was too technically critical in his review and you might miss a really fine Christmas treat if you just went by his review.
Simply put, my family and our friends loved this DVD of the Canadian Brass. Their great rendition of beloved Christmas carols coupled with the natural charm of their children served as a perfect backdrop to my Christmas party last year because the film has no voice-over dialogue. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone looking for one that captures the joy and fun and charm of the season. It's well worth the purchase.

They can do better!,
By Marcel Boom (Gronsveld, Limburg Netherlands) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Canadian Brass - A Christmas Experiment (DVD)
I bought this DVD because I am a fan of Canadian Brass and I wanted to see what they could do with a medium as DVD. I must say that I am a little bit dissapointed. Not of the level of the entertainment or of the level of the 5 musicians but of the level of the DVD. It looks like it has been taken directly, without any other enhancements from the television and put on the disc. DVD can do so much better and specially with this kind of group of musicians I expected somewhat more. Why not do the same kind of "joy" and "fun" on the DVD itself?Another, somewhat dissapointing, remark is that at least some of the clips seem to be in "play-back" mode which I can understand, but it makes watching the clips somewhat harder as a musician (you see the fingers move on the cylinders, but you do not hear different notes). This bothers me perhaps the most because I do like the "live" appearences of the Canadian Brass because of their ability to do all those acts on stage and perform on a high musicaly standard at the same time.

Fun Christmas video to watch while decorating your tree-,

Would like to have more music performed by the Canadian Brass ensemble; but cute video of a small intimate musical play/performance for family & friends with touching commentary about Christmas and the Holidays from the children in the performance. We watched it a few times while decorating the tree and such...
