5.0 out of 5 stars A Life-Affirming Performance, October 26, 2002

This review is from: Canadian Suite (Audio CD)
What I appreciate most about this recording is the simple joy that each track exudes. As a lover of classical music, I find Oscar Peterson's style similar to that of the great Russian pianist Sviatoslav Richter. It combines a cast-iron technique with stunning lyricism, while adding the freedom found only in jazz.
Because I am new to the world of jazz (this is the first disc I have purchased) I do not know if this is one of the truly great recordings of all time. All I can say is that it puts a smile on my face whenever I listen to it. My only complaint with this otherwise fantastic disc is that with a playing time of roughly 40 minutes it is just not long enough!
