This book really brings to life what living in Northern Canada was about in the early 1900's. I found myself thinking what it would be like in Elizabeth's shoes. She endured such hardships just to be with the man she loved. What a great lovestory! It is excellent, just like all of Jeanette Oke's other books that I have read. I can't wait until it is printed again so I can have my own copy.

This book was totally awesome! I absolutely loved it. The first time that I read it was when I was on a trip with my parents to visit my grandparents in Arizona during Christmas time. It was one of my Christmas presents. I lost some sleep because I couldn't put the book down at night. I first read it when I was about 13 or 14 years old. I saw the book and thought "oh my gosh, it's so long! I'll never be able to read this." Once I started however, I couldn't put it down. I'm almost 18 years old now, and I've read it about seven or eight times. I recommend this book to anyone regardless of what you normally would read. If you have any other books by this same author that you loved, write me and tell me their titles! I love reading!

I am a Huge Janette Oke fan. Her books inspire me to live a faithful, Christian life...and this book just happens to be my favorite, if it's possible to have a favorite Oke book (they are all wonderful!) I encourage you to read this Saga!

I love ever Janette Oke book I've ever read, but this is a favorite! I hope everyone who reads this liked it as much as I did!

This is my favorite series from Oke. I wish it was longer. I never wanted the book to end. Oke is a wonderful author, and this is a must read book.

What a delightful book -- one that you want to re-read right away. From page one I disappeared into Elizabeth's Canada and emerged more than 700 pages later much richer and happier for it.

I cannot tell you how much that I enjoyed this series! The people are so real...and you laugh and cry with them. I thought that the honesty that Elizabeth's relationship with God was portrayed was wonderful!! This was time well spent!!

I just finished this book last week and it was wonderful. The characters are so real and you come to care so much for them. It was so interesting reading about the Canadian wilderness and about Elizabeth's growing relationship to God.

The characters in this book draw you into the very heart of their families and the trials and joys they face. It is very well written and a joy to read.

The book begins with a very good "hook" and continues to hold my interest. The physical journey is a catalist for personal changes.

There are issues of seperation and reconnectiing, doubt opening into confident action, and other unknowns that can leave us feeling out of control when only looking at the physical. For someone going through confusing changes, it might clearify their perspective. I chose to give this series as a gift for someone that fits that catagory; hurt and confused. I am not much of a "city girl" and the wilderness laced with old west type towns placed me in my comfort zone.

Janette Oke has become one of my favorite authors. The only thing I would change (for the christian reader) is the mention of how God is involved in part of the process. For a Christian to give this series to a non-believer I don't believe it would be offensive at all since there is really no "significent" mention of a personal relationship with God.
