Cathy-Ann MacPhee is a fine, fine singer. Her strong, natural voice is perfect for the beautiful Gaelic songs she sings. Accapella or with simple, traditional accompaniment, she is a joy to listen to. None of her recordings thus far have suffered from overproduction, thank goodness. My only complaint about this CD is that the insert has only English lyric translations, though not a word of English appears in the music! Where's the Gaelic??

Another wonderful CD from a great singer, May 19, 2008

Aptly titled 'Canan nan Gaidheal', this album provides an insight into the beautiful music of the Gaels. Cathy Ann's lovely warm alto voice interprets the songs wonderfully and, like the reviewer before me, the only gripe I have with this CD is that the sleeve contains only the Sassenach translation of the songs - not the Gaelic words.
