I live in Alaska and in the area I live it rains a lot during the summer. Literally twice as much rain as Portland, OR, so having a few good rain jackets is a must around here. That said, I didn't have a good cycling jacket so I'd been toughing it out with just a moisture-wicking shirt. Now that it's starting to cool off I decided to order jacket to keep me warm and dry. I own a Canari jersey and the quality is excellent, especially for the price, so I decided to try out their jacket. It is certainly rain proof and does great at fending off the wind. It's pretty warm with the lack of vents and can turn into a bit of a sauna in there if you don't let some fresh air in from time to time, which is why I knocked 1 star off. I ride really hard though, so it may not be too bad for commuting, especially on cooler days. I'm training for triathlons so this has become my rainy day running jacket as well and it works great in that regard as well.
The rear pocket is a good size, you can easily fit a phone, ipod, keys, gel's/bars, and other items of similar size....all at once. I just carry my phone and never notice it's there. overall, this is an excellent purchase for the money. However, if you ride hard or live in a warmer area, I'd look at their vented jacket instead.

This item came quickly and has performed far in excess of what similarly priced jackets would. When I need a another cycling jacket, I'll buy another.
The only downside? It would be nice if the sleeves were removable as it gets way hot here in Georgia.

I bought this jacket for my husband. He is an avid biker and loves biking in the snow. It's bright and warm and blocks the harsh winds in NE Ohio very well, and you can see him coming from a mile away! The package arrived the very next day after I ordered and in great condition. I would recommend this to anyone who loves to bike or run.

Very pleased, this shell is truely a wind breaker. Two factors, the sizing is off, I ordered a large, which I usually wear, but it was quite small so I exchanged for an X-large. I recommend a size larger than you normally would order. Secondly, there is no side pockets. I suppose cyclists are used to that, I am an amateur so side pockets would be my preference as opposed to the large single rear bottle/whatever pocket holder. Otherwise, great product.

Good, but not for recumbent users.,

On the positive side, the jacket works great at keeping me dry, even in pouring rain. It's also pretty good at stopping the wind, and I don't get as hot and sweaty wearing it as in my previous jacket.
On the negative side, it has a zippered pocket on the back, which is a problem as I ride a recumbent, and the zipper is right where I press most of my weight against the back of the seat. So for a regular bicycle, I'm sure the pocket is great, but for recumbent riders, it's quite literally a pain in the back. It would have been nice to know about the pocket before I purchased this jacket.

First off, get at least one size larger than what you usually wear. That was the mistake I made & had to return the item.I purchased the Canari Velo Cycling shell, to carry with me on those bike rides that I would need cover for the cooler temps. I use a light jacket usually when Mountain Biking. On the down hill descents, the air gets cool, especially in the woods or facing into the ocean breeze. As I pointed out above & will reiterate, get the next size up; maybe 2 sizes? Other than that, this jacket is very light, with barely enough thread to hold the jacket together. It is very thin, like a plastic shopping bag. You can almost see through the translucency. I can't make a judgment on the durability if the product, but if lightness is your criteria, then this is your product. I wish the sizing was in line with the other clothing I have purchased. This cycling shell seems lighter & less likely to keep you warm than a long sleeved cycling jersey. Though I did return it, it wasn't due with my dissatisfaction with the product, other than the size. I was surprised how light it was & if it would keep me warm? I had no problem returning the item & getting the credit back. Keep your packaging & if the problem arises that you are dissatisfied, then email them for the return address tag. It sort of unexplained from their end what is going to happen. I emailed them requesting either a credit or the next size increase. I was left guessing what was going to happen. I got their return address tag sent to me either via fax or snail mail, but no other instruction. I finally decided to use the tag to send the product back. It was a duration of time not getting a response, but then after a couple of weeks, I get an email that I was credited.

Cycling jackets are expensive. This one is not. And it works. It is very effective in blocking the wind on those cold rides.

I am a true 2XL, and this shell pushes the extreme limit of being 2XL. I am 6'4" tall, and weigh 260 lbs. The shell fits me, but barely. As for doing it's intended job, It performs well, and it is nice and bright. Recommended!

Was wanting an inexpensive, lightweight windbreaker for biking and walking... and I've found it. Have used it on several occasions in windy conditions while biking and walking with temperatures in the mid 40's. I'm sure there are other very nice windbreaker jackets available, but I must say that this jacket works as advertised and does a excellent job of blocking the wind. And it didn't feel sweaty inside after my workouts. It apparently breathes just enough through the large mesh panel vent (covered) on the upper back to keep from getting too hot and building up moisture inside. Also really like the hi-visibilty color, plus some reflective strips on zipper covers. I've seen this jacket in the cycling store selling for $69. Others similar jackets sold for much more. I paid $44.95 and consider it to be a very nice bargin. Effectiveness, quality, price and value.....I can't find anything yet to take away from a 5 star rating.
