I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of this year. My sister had heard of this book and got a copy to me within a week of diagnosis. I can't imagine what it would have been like for me to navigate this "cancer road" without the help of this book. It was almost like I was given permission to be positive and up beat, even when we weren't sure if the cancer had spread. I also was grateful to know that we could have a sense of humor about it! It also has a bunch of info without being overwhelming or scary. Like Joy talks about, the internet can scare a person if you google enough info. I have read and re read the book a couple of times. I am passing a copy on to my mom and my sis who gave me the book to begin with. I think it would be a huge help to anyone that cancer has touched. It gives good info both with stories of others who are facing cancer and resources that are available. This is all presented in a positive and warm manner. An EXCELLENT resource!

Being a 2 x Cancer Survivor, I wish I had a couple of things while I sat undergoing chemotherapy, this book is one of them. Joy Huber story is what being strong and having a good attitude full of Joy while battling cancer should be about. I highly recommend this book to all who are battling cancer or even a family member who's supporting someone battling cancer. Life has it up's and down's, but enjoying life should be fun. How can the word Joy ever be associated with Cancer? That was the question I asked myself when I first saw the title of Joy Huber's book, "Cancer with Joy". After reading the book I understand what she is saying. Simply put, Joy's message is this: Yes, cancer is a horrible disease and getting the diagnosis is devastating, but even with cancer a person can be more than their diagnosis and can still have happiness and even joy in their life. When Joy Huber was thirty-three years old she was on the cusp of what she intended to be her breakout year. Although she had a successful speaking and coaching business in her hometown in Nebraska, she'd just sold her home and planned to move to Nashville to pursue her dream of songwriting. But scant days before she was to make her big life-altering move her mother insisted she have some mysterious lumps checked out. Within days Joy's breakout year became something entirely different. Joy went through the trials of daily visits to specialists and then aggressive chemotherapy. Finally she battled her disease into remission and through the process of dealing with cancer Joy discovered a power within herself to rise above her diagnosis and retain happiness, dignity, and even joy.
More than a million and a half people are diagnosed with cancer every year. Half of all men and one third of all women will face cancer in their lifetime. This is a staggering statistic, but it means that almost every person on the planet will either face cancer directly or indirectly when a loved one or friend is diagnosed. But even though the disease is awful, cancer victims and their supporters can rise above the diagnosis and still lead happy and fulfilled lives.Read more ›
