Good, solid rock,

On her new release, Patti's voice has only the tiniest bit of a "stuffy nose" quality that was shown on her previous hit song, "Inside". It and sounds more mature. She also rocks out much more than I expected. Especially on track "Moonage Daydream". Though I wouldn't really compare Rothberg's music to anyone else's, I'd say that those who like aggressive girl rock in the vein of Liz Phair will like this a lot. This is a CD best played LOUD!

Killer Sophomore Album,

This review is from: Candelabra Cadabra (Audio CD)
While her debut album was incredible, in some ways, Candelabra Cadabra tops it. It's a ballsy collection mixing genres from rock to pop to a little bit of folk. Rothberg truly knows how to put clever memorable lyrics to hooky music, and she really hits the ball out of the park on quite a few tracks here -- primarily the rock-operaish title track, the Kirsty Maccoll-ish closer "Wry It Girl", the hilarious rocker "Dish It Out" and the can't-get-it-out-of-my-head "Eggshells". Excellent guitar rock (and terrifically produced) from one of the best musicians you're probably not listening to (yet). Pick it up.

Candelabra Cadabra,

I brought my fiancee from Austin to Washington DC on the bus; and this CD was one of the CD's we listened to. It was around midnight, and that's what made this CD addictive (BTW, I ordered this from her official website). It has a fuller sound than 'Between' and is much more experimental, with longer songs, which is a good thing. Another favorite. Patti Rothberg is "That Damn Good!"
