Editorial Reviews

Queen legend Brian May and first lady of the West End Kerry Ellis come together for The Candlelight Concerts. Filmed at the renowned Stravinski Auditorium during the Montreux Jazz Festival in July 2013, this wonderfully intimate show blends Kerry Ellis' beautiful voice with the sympathetic guitar playing of Brian May for a largely acoustic performance of standards, ballads, Queensongs and cover versions. Also included in the set is the CD of 'Acoustic By Candlelight' recorded live on the UK leg of their tour in autumn 2012.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two Queens make good music. June 3, 2014
Verified Purchase
Brian May founding member of Queen (the band) has been keeping busy making music with other people since Freddie has left us.
Here he collaborates with a singer who I had not heard of,Kerry Ellis. Well she is a queen of the vocal cords because she has a rich voice. The package has a double value: it is 15 songs on CD, and 16 on DVD.Some of the songs on these are the same, but they were recorded at different concerts, so you will get a different version on the CD than the DVD. There are a few Queen songs performed, but surprisingly, some common middle of the road type song performed are included; The Way We Were,Born Free, Something, and Dust in the Wind. Brian plays mostly acoustic guitar here, but a few feature his signature electric.I would listen the samples to decide if you are willing to spend a couple of hours listening to Kerry's voice. Everyone has their own taste, so it might be the deciding factor in your decision to purchase it. If you crave another Freddie Mercury, she might not fill your musical cup. Taken as a new fresh voice, she will delight you, as does the tasteful licks of Brian May.

Great concert. Of course the highlight for me was when Brian May says he does not like to be unplugged for too long. Solo time... Last Horizon anyone... just awesome to hear Brian and Kerry covering these songs in an up close and personal setting.
