A good addition to your Candida library.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Candida Control Cookbook: What You Should Know and What You Should Eat to Manage Yeast Infections (Paperback)
This book does present some new information that I haven't seen in other Candida related books. In light of this, it would have been very helpful to have better documentation of the references so that I could more accurately weigh their value against my other information sources. That is, I would like to see footnotes throughout instead of just a reference page in the back. The author advocates a low carbohydrate diet. Regarding this, there is one major flaw in this book (to the best of my knowledge). The author says that vegetable glycerin is an acceptable sweetener to replace sugar, etc., and that it has NO carbohydrates. In fact, vegetable glycerin is 100% carbohydrates. I obtained this information directly from the manufacturer that sells the product in my vicinity. The product does not have sugar grams, however, which still makes it a good sugar substitute. The misunderstanding is probably due to the fact that the product does not have a nutrition label. More complete nutrition information on the recipes would also be helpful. Currently, they only show total carbs.

Informative Cookbook,

This is a very informative cookbook. The recipes are the best I have found (and this is the third cookbook I have purchased). I wish I had known about using 100% pure vegetable glycerine as a sweetener months ago! Her recipes make you feel like you are eating "real" food again.

This review is from: Candida Control Cookbook: What You Should Know and What You Should Eat to Manage Yeast Infections (Paperback)
Wow. How great to find a resourceful and practical dietary cookbook for both candida free diets and diabetic diets. I searched the web forever, then I found this little treasure. It is a rewarding find! Who would have thought of using vegetable glycerine to sweeten foods? Alas, I can still have deserts and not lose track of my dietary requirements. Thanks to the author for her research and cumulation of a wonderful resource. J.Whitley Portland Oregon

Appealing recipes for a non-vegetarian,

This review is from: Candida Control Cookbook: What You Should Know and What You Should Eat to Manage Yeast Infections (Paperback)
The book was interesting to read. It has a lot of recipes that I would have liked to make without having a dietary change. I didn't feel like I had to invest a ton of money at the health food store in order to start the new diet. I can make changes and try different items gradually rather than having to go restock my pantry.

It has now been 3 months on the Candida Control Diet and taking Lamisil --- I have my life back! Thank you Gail Burton for writing a cookbook that is realistic and good. It has been my bible over the course of this. I am purchasing CANDIDA, The Silent Epidemic and hope it will help me with figuring out what to do to maintain my healthy lifestyle. 3 CHEERS! for this cookbook!

Buyer Beware,

This review is from: Candida Control Cookbook: What You Should Know and What You Should Eat to Manage Yeast Infections (Paperback)
Being desperate for ideas as to what to make my 13 year old son who is on a Candida Diet, I thought I had found a gold mine on discovering this book. I was disappointed, however, when I checked with my naturopath regarding the safety of vegetable glycerin, and was told that it could cause diarrhea and/or dehydration, and he suggested that I look for an alternative sweetener. I have had some success using Ms. Burton's recipes substituting stevia. But thanks for trying, Ms. Burton, for so many of us this is a recurring problem.

Anti Yeast Diet,
By Catherine M. Bauer (Troy, MI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Candida Control Cookbook: What You Should Know and What You Should Eat to Manage Yeast Infections (Paperback)
This book has been a real help to me in my anti yeast adventure. I have been taking lamisil and following the diet for 3 weeks with great success. It is a roller coaster ride, but more ups than downs. The food is not the most tasty at times, but with so little choice it is hard. A favorite is the Oat and Orange Muffins (which I vary with different flavorings Raspberry is delicious!) -- they are simple to make, moist and freeze well. Also real good are the Rice Ball Cookies. This book is a must for those with this particular need. (ALSO - to a previous reviewer: I BELIEVE STEVIA IS VEGETABLE GLYCERIN AND WATER.)

This book is informative and gives a good idea of what to eat and not to eat. I appreciate the many recipes showing a variety of ways to prepare the limited foods we are allowed to eat during the die off period.

This review is from: The Candida Control Cookbook: What You Should Know and What You Should Eat to Manage Yeast Infections (New Revised & Updated Edition) (Paperback)
I started this diet in 1997 on the advice of my allergist and it lasted 2 years until I started working a 12 a day job when I didn't have time for it any more. Within 5 weeks of starting this diet I no longer had migraines, constantly stuffy head or sneezing, 2 years without a yeast infection or athlete's foot. After about 4 years off of this diet it all started again. I am purchasing this book again so I can feel better again. Pleased to have found it so easily.
