This video is a true snapshot of what William Carey and his family went through as missionaries to India. It honestly shares how William Carey, the shoe maker and a great visionary in his time took seriously God's call upon his life to proclaim the good news of God's kingdom to the people of India, and courageously did it despite the reluctant spirit of both his wife and his church. Knowing that this is indeed based on a true story really catches your breath. It is the best story of a Christian life well lived I ever seen.

This film is great. It shows the life, sacrifices, and work of William Carey, missionary to India. He discovered that his gift from God was not evangelism, but languages. When he worked using the gifts that God gave him, all of India is blessed on down to our present day. This is a great family film based upon truth. I had all my children watch this.

The potential for this to have been truly great is lost by the focus of the film. If you are not familiar with Mr. Carey's remarkable work, this will not supply too much evidence. The acting is fair. The actors who play Mr. Carey and the first Mrs. Carey are just not up to the roles. There is a bit of underacting and overacting here. What a shame that such an important story could not have been told better.

I watched this film through another online service. Although the film was not made on a big budget, it was incredibly moving and I think, in some way, the simple quality lends a sweetness to the film that might otherwise have been lost had it been done on an extravagant budget.

To learn of William Carey's story would cause anyone to marvel at his faithfulness and his perserverance through many years of trials and tribulations before ever seeing a single convert. Thank God he stuck with it and helped bring the Scriptures to the people of India in their own languages.

I already have a heart for missions and a film like this only stokes the fires in my spirit to hopefully do my part to help fulfill the Great Commission!
