Another stunning collection from Bowers,

I have been a fan of Cathy Smith Bowers' poetry for years, and this new collection from Iris Press only increased my admiration for her work. Unabashedly poignant and profound, this book travels a generous arc-- from the ancient Kabbalah to childhood's "sentimental education", to the moving and sorrowful evocations of a brother's passing and a husband's suicide. Yet the book doesn't despair, but leaves us with a sense of fullness and of nourishment to come.

I'm now officially a fan of Cathy Smith Bowers since buying this fourth book. I love her work and these poems are particularly poignant and moving in the wake of her husband's suicide. Even in this time of grief, her poetry demonstrates hope, gratitude and wonder. Highly recommend this one and her previous three collections.
