More About the Author

Jeffrey Sackett was born in Brooklyn in 1949, and counts himself fortunate to have gotten home from the hospital unscathed. After studying briefly for the ministry, he decided to embark upon a teaching career. (This was preferable to his alternative at the time, which was a year in Vietnam as a guest of the government.) He subsequently earned three master's degrees and two doctorates, and is currently associate professor of History and Philosophy in two colleges on Long Island, New York.
He explored other career alternatives at various times. He was a bank guard (during which time the bank was robbed while he was taking a nap down in the vault) and a finder of missing persons (most of whom had disappeared on purpose, and threatened him with all manner of physical injury when he found them.) He decided that teaching was probably his safest choice.
He had numerous interesting experiences while traveling in Europe at various times. He was physically ejected from the cathedral of Aachen, Germany, when he could not resist the opportunity to sit on Charlemagne's throne. He was arrested in Vienna, Austria, when he accidently set off a barrage of burglar alarms in the museum that houses the Hapsburg crown jewels. He was ticketed in London, England, for driving in the wrong direction around Trafalgar Square. (His argument that he was the only person in the country who wasn't driving in the wrong direction did not impress the policeman.) He also attended Oktoberfest, the annual beer festival in Munich. The people he was with tell him that he enjoyed himself immensely.
Five of his historical horror novels were published by Bantam Books. His most recent works are available as ebooks on Kindle and Nook. Visit his website, jsackett.webs.com, or the website of his current publisher, crossroadpress.com.

A rock n roll star (Simon Proctor) pretending to be a satanist finds out what true satanism is, in this great horror novel. For anyone interested in horror novels, I truly recommend it.

Draconis Blackthorne (The Haunted Noctuary) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Candlemas Eve (Mass Market Paperback)
Heavy Metal meets old English limericks. This story is about a Metal band named "Witch's Sabbath", reminiscient of Ozzy Osbourne's Black Sabbath, who hook tails with a couple of reincarnated witches, who take the music unto eclectic soaring heights.

The character of Gwendalyn Jenkins is really admirable, in all her cruel, ruthless splendour. She loves Simon Proctor {an Ozzy-esque character}, who greatly reminds her of his ancestor, who was burned at the stake for being an Warlock, along with the two main witches, brought back to the earth by Satan, from Hell. She struck a deal to regain her long lost love, & now she finds her opportunity. & nothing will stop her from regaining what is hers!

A news reporter greatly described like Ol' Broken Nose geraldo rivera, makes a cameo appearance, although the name herein is Percy Campbell.

CANDLEMAS EVE is filled with plenty of lust, Magic, vengence, & dark humour. There are many situations Satanists will be able to relate to.

Mr. Sackett was wise to include the disclamer in the author's note, that there are no authentic Satanic rituals in the whole book, but there are some interesting ideas, that you may want to incorperate in your own practices.

CANDLEMAS EVE is basically designed to terrify the normals. I imagine it is quite effective.

Overall, CANDLEMAS EVE is very entertaining, & inspirational at times. One interesting & exciting situation to the next. Never a dull moment.

5.0 out of 5 stars An impressive story based on the Salem Witches., May 26, 1998

This review is from: Candlemas Eve (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a really, really great book. A story about Simon Proctor,a descendant of someone killed in the Salem Witch Trials, who is pretending to be a satanist for fame and money, and gets a taste of true evil when he encounters two witches who want to join his band. I loved this book, and recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a kick-ass horror novel.
