5.0 out of 5 stars 500 YEARS OF AFRO-BRASILIAN RELIGOUS MUSIC FOR THE 22ND CENTURY
Carlinhos Brown's new recording "Candombless" is a
brilliant
deconstruction & reconstruction of the 5 centuries
old Afro-Religious
music from Bahia Brasil;Candomble. That's not counting the
timeless Yoruban
roots of this music brought to Brasil by almost 4

3.0 out of 5 stars Very innovative (and very short)
I agree substantially with the previous review. For afro-latin music fans, this CD is a treat. The chants are beautiful and the mix with more modern sounds is seamless and unique. However, I have 2 disclaimers. First, this album is not a typical Carlinhos album. He does not do much singing on it at all, except maybe some coros. Second, and perhaps more importantly,...

Second, and perhaps more importantly, this album is just over 26 minutes long. That makes this CD more like an "EP" in my book. At over $24, that makes this one of the highest prices I've ever paid per minute of music.

The soulful voices & rhythms of the Orixás (African Gods) are left
intact, powerfully recorded & mixed w/ Carlinhos Brown's visions of the
22nd century. This recording is an incredibly creative step into the past & the future...totally unique.
"Candombless" well deserves its 5 star ***** rating.
