Every child should have one of these,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Candy Cane Story (Hardcover)
This is the best Christmas book for children short of "Twas the night before...". This Christian storybook demands that you hold your child on your knee because the pictures are fabulous. My child insists on being able to study the pictures every time I read it aloud. I got an extra copy and gave it to our local Christian pre-school. Two weeks later I found that about 10 of the teachers had ordered their own copy. You'll love the story, and your children will love the pictures.

After reading this book to my grandchildren, and seeing how well they responded, I was prompted to write this review. I had read other versions of this story to them, but they did not seem to grasp the crux of the story as well. I highly recommend this book for all children.

Based on an urban legend,

This review is from: The Candy Cane Story (Hardcover)
The candy cane is older than America, and its origins aren't religious. White sugar candy sticks were part of solstice and Christmas traditions for centuries. In the 17th century, someone added the bend to the stick and passed them out at live nativity scenes. The stripes were not added until much later.
If you find value in the Christian symbolism, that's great, but don't make up lies about the candy cane's origin. http://www.snopes.com/holidays/christmas/candycane.asp |
