5.0 out of 5 stars One young woman stuck between good and evil, November 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Candy Lady (Paperback)
---Connie Ross tries to be a good woman. She's 25, mentally ill and childless. But she doesn't let that stop her from befriending the neighborhood children. However, she's never been around children and her temper often gets the best of her. But it doen't stop there.
Connie's past is abusive and depressing. She's withdrawn her pain into a private world, and aside from the company of the neighborhood children she talks to no one. Years of secluding herself from social interaction have brought about a few bad habits, namely a quick temper and little patience.
One of the two gets the better of her: her temper. She holds it in and it builds and builds until she finds herself becoming violent and aggressive. She tries to be nice; she gets the children a swind set, and starts a trend of buying them candy.
The neighborhood children love this and begin calling her the "Candy Lady," On the surface, it's meant as a geture of goodwill, but Connie's temper develops a sinister plot in the back of her mind. With time on her side and a friendly demeanour about her, Connie devises a plan so sinister and evil that it ultimately destroys the lives around her, as well as her own.
