Fantastic blend of genres!,

A strong first single from Paolo Nutini's new album, Candy shows influences like Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, and Smokey Robinson and fuses them into something completely original, delivered convincingly in Paolo's uniquely beautiful voice. I can't wait for the full album!

Somehow between "These Streets" and his new album "Sunny Side Up", Paolo Nutini turned into an octogenarian wedding singer! Don't get me wrong, I love me some Poalo. And a Sophomore album is supposed to show growth, maturity even...but geesh, on this track his voice sounds like it's matured by 60 years! Perhaps its that the quivery voice that enchantingly entreated "Slow down, lie down" with such soulful vulnerability on "These Streets" now sounds as if his only entreaty is for "my darlin'" to quickly bring a blanket to his rocker in case of a draft.
They lyrics are top, hence the three stars, but I simply cannot get over the new voice. Let's hope the other tracks on "Sunny Side Up" sound a bit more sunny and soulful and a little less tepid and tremor-y.
